- Researches, tracks, analyzes, compiles and reports legislative and funding priorities for Fort Bend County.
- Drafts and creates written reports, memos, one-pagers, and PowerPoint presentations on legislative/public policy findings, problems and solutions.
- Keeps constant communication with other counties, stakeholders, members of the Texas Legislature, Congress, and state and federal agencies.
- Responds to citizen's questions and complaints; resolves or refers to appropriate person; responds to correspondence and telephone calls or refers to appropriate person.
- Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, or related field.
- 2 years of job related experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, department and elected officials.
- Strong verbal and written communication, organizational and computer skills.
Must possess basic supervision principles; maintaining relationships between local, state and federal governments, public interest groups and private enterprise.
Knowledge of the principles of public administration, organization, and management including methods of performing complex administrative, organizational and procedural analyses.
Knowledge of methods and procedures of public finance and budgeting; detailed organizational and functional structure of County government; long-range financial planning and financing methods and practices of local governments; local, state and federal laws, regulations and procedures affecting functions of the County.
Strong experience in contract management.
Supervise and/or direct the work; independently research, analyze and make effective recommendations on administrative, management, budgetary and fiscal practices, procedures and problems; prepare, negotiate and administer contracts; research, compile and analyze statistical and other complex data; write complex reports in a logical, comprehensive, concise manner; prioritize workload efficiently, without direct instruction, to meet deadlines under changing conditions; exercise initiative; facilitate, coordinate and negotiate between staff members of different County and non-County departments and offices.
Must acquire subject matter expertise in program specific projects; initiate and develop efficient, cost-effective policies; prepare reports and present ideas orally and in writing.
Ability to win and maintain confidence and cooperation of others and establish and maintain effective relationships on projects.

JOB SUMMARY:
Researches, analyzes, reports and provides guidance to Fort Bend County Judge’s Office on legislative and public policy initiatives in order to push necessary funding for Fort Bend County residents and community as a whole. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Compensation will be dependent upon experience and education. Fort Bend County offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision, Section 125 Flex Spending account, and longevity pay. Fort Bend County ‘s retirement includes participation in the Texas County & District Retirement System (TCDRS) and a 457 (b) plan for employee deferrals. The County matches 2:1at retirement. TCDRS members are eligible for retirement upon meeting specific criteria.
