Leads cross-departmental project team to support nine Student Health Action Councils (SHACs) in five schools districts and youth engagement activities to grow and maintain a youth voice. Organizes, facilitates and participates in meetings of stakeholder groups to identify needs and build consensus and collaboration.
Develops and monitors SHAC budgets, staffing and strategic plans. Monitors, tracks and evaluates adherence to SHAC plans, goals, schedules and budgets.
Communicates progress to stakeholders (schools, SHCs, Multnomah County, youth serving community organizations and grant funders).
Identifies problems, barriers, mitigates strategies, and identifies opportunities for improvement. Identifies training needs related to SHAC adult facilitators, coordinates and conducts training.
Documents and reports financial, budgetary, or operational progress in partnership with SHC Manager. Modifies project plan as necessary in response to unforeseen changes or developments.
Create and write materials and reports for SHC management, outreach and community engagement, and grant requirements. Research funding opportunities and assist with proposal development.
Applies principles, methods, and techniques of project management to be effective at organization change management. In all SHAC project planning, apply an equity, trauma informed, and empowerment lens, recruit diverse youth to participate, structure activities to promote health equity, health and wellness, and generate demand for SHC services.
Build relationships and partnerships with SHC staff, school staff, agencies working in the school, and community partners as part of on-going project plans. Act as conduit between the Student Health Centers, students, and schools to improve SHC’s contribution in youth well being.
Develop communication and social media plans to support SHAC activities in multiple languages and formats.
Experience in youth engagement and youth development
Experience in project management
Masters Degree in Public Health or related field
Experience working in a school environment or with youth in other settings

Student Health Centers (SHC) is a unit within Integrated Clinical Services (ICS), Health Department. The mission of the SHC program is to promote the whole community, whole school, and whole child health, wellness and readiness to learn. The Program operates 9 centers in coordination with five school districts: Centennial, David Douglas, Parkrose, Reynolds and Portland Public Schools. This position leads youth engagement across the SHC Program for nine Student Health Action Councils (SHACs) in five school districts that includes internal and external stakeholders to support the students, schools, staff and communities of the school districts.
*This is a 0.8 FTE positon*

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be as noted below. All non-traditional education,training and experience will be evaluated.
Education/Training: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree; AND
Experience: Three (3) to six (6) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position (Equivalency 7-10 years of qualifying training and/or experience) .
