      SUMMARY:

      The project management office serves the Mercy Health Toledo Market to provide expertise in lean six sigma, process improvement, and change management. The Project Management Office’s primary role is to drive change using data driven decisions and serve as internal consultants to administration. The PMO will harvest, triage, align, vet, and execute ideas for innovations, process & quality improvements. The Manager will identify opportunities for and implement daily accountability processes and visual controls, lead/manage multiple complex projects and teams across the continuum of care in all facets of healthcare operations demonstrating a significant return on internal investment. The Manager will train departmental employees, organizational employees and leaders. Project work will include system implementations, process improvement studies, data analysis, work system analysis that result in improved efficiencies, reduced costs, and improved employee/customer satisfaction.

      ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

      • Project Work: Create project plans and facilitate project teams to complete process improvement projects. 2. Utilize Lean Six Sigma methodology to improve processes throughout the organization. 3. Gather data through time/motion studies, check sheets, electronic data pulls, online surveys and or benchmarking other hospitals and organizations. 4. Enter and analyze data in various ways to determine trends and identify root causes. 5. Convert data into information needed for administration and management to make informed decisions regarding process changes. 6. Develop creative solutions to problems associated with processes throughout the hospital, and present these solutions to appropriate staff, management and administration.
      • Leader Consultation: Develop relationships with organization leadership to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs and improve job and/or customer satisfaction. The Manager will spend their time working with senior leadership and executive administration and any personnel as the need arises.
      • Administrative Work: Schedule meetings, prepares documentation for project management, develops reports for milestones and report outs to customers.
      • Teaching: Develop educational materials on process improvement tools and methodologies to be used for training. Train all levels of the organization in the effective application of process improvement tools and methodologies. The Manager will train and mentor internal department employees.

      Required Minimum Education:

      4 year/ Bachelors Degree

      Specialty/Major:

      Industrial Engineering, Management Engineering, or a related field.

      Preferred Education:

      Graduate Degree (Masters)

      Specialty/Major:

      MBA or a related field

      Minimum Years and Type of Experience:

      Greater than five years work experience facilitating business process improvement, process re-engineering, process design and/or Lean or Six Sigma projects OR three to five years in management position.

      Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

      Experience in Lean Six Sigma methods. Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of staff, outside vendors, consultants, and physicians.

      Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Reguired:

      Ability to apply Black Belt level of Six Sigma skills/competencies within 1 year of hire.
