In this vital role you will be part of a team supporting lead identification for therapeutic proteins and protein reagent production for Amgen Discovery Research. This individual will perform day-to-day, hands-on operation for protein purification and characterization.

  Responsibilities

  • Design and execute expression and purification strategies to recover recombinant proteins

  • Contribute to innovative strategies on purifying multi-chain protein complexes.

  • Functional analytics and molecular characterization of purified proteins

  • Analyze data and communicate results to colleagues and project teams

  Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree PhD OR PharmD OR MD and relevant post-doc where applicable OR

  • Master’s degree and 3 years of scientific experience OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of scientific experience

  Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD degree with experience in protein expression and biochemistry

  • Postdoctoral studies or industry experience

  • Expertise in microbial and/or insect expression systems, as well as protein purification and characterization technologies, including chromatography and biochemical/biophysical characterization of proteins

  • Experience with laboratory automation and software programming

  • Demonstrated strong communication skills and ability to multi-task and work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment

  • Independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in research, exemplified by strong publication and/or patent record

  The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
