      The Provisional Psychologists will work independently with clients under the supervision and direction of an in-house supervisor. Clients are adults with work-related injuries who are experiencing physical and/or psychological difficulties in returning to work. Clients are recovering from a workplace injury and may be experiencing chronic pain and often also experience symptoms of depression and anxiety. This temporary supervised learning opportunity is typically for a one-year term. However, the length of the term is dependent on how many hours the successful candidate has completed towards the College’s requirement of 1600 hours of supervised practice.

      Your Provisional Psychologists responsibilities:

      • Delivering psychological services as part of an interdisciplinary team to injured workers suffering from acute pain, chronic pain, traumatic injuries and/or brain injuries.
      • Completing psychological assessments and counseling sessions to enhance our clients’ abilities to return to work.
      • Facilitating psychology groups and conducting relaxation training classes to reduce the impact of disability related issues.
      • You may be required to work with our return-to-work program clients, including those experiencing persistent pain as part of your continued development and to support operational requirements.
      • Participating in and facilitating psycho-educational groups with supervision.
      • There may also be other opportunities to participate in other learning activities related to psychology services.
      • The supervised learning opportunity will include both in-person and virtual work components.

      Your experience and skills:

      • Completion of a Master’s Degree in Psychology from a recognized School of Psychology.
      • Active registration as a provisional psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists.
      • Experience in an interdisciplinary rehabilitation setting involving the assessment and treatment of a variety of disorders and experience providing psychological services and experience in the treatment of clients with physical and/or chronic pain is preferred.
      • Research experience is an asset.
      • Basic knowledge of Excel and psychometrics is preferred.
      • Interest in rehabilitation/health psychology as a possible career.
      • Ability to work both independently and with a team.
      • Exercise tact and good judgement in interviewing clients and strong communication skills.
      • Demonstrate creativity and flexibility in approaching issues.
      • Interest in learning in a collaborative team environment is also an asset.
      • Ability to work from home including access to a computer, strong internet connection, ergonomic workstation, and a private workspace.

      Salary: Grade H4 - $73,403.16 to $92,993.66 per annum

      In accordance with the Collective Agreement between HSAA and WCB (Millard Health)

      This is a temporary, full-time position for approximately one year. The hours of work would be 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday (36.25 hours per week). Final candidates for this position will be required to undergo a security clearance.
