      Job Description

      Come and join this dedicated team as a PS Officer Specialised where you will be responsible for the effective application of CCTV, X-ray and electronic access and monitoring systems to reduce theft, identify procedural and process violations and health and safety issues. This application involves monitoring, detecting and analysing anomalies and incident conditions in risk areas within Anglo American Platinum. Officers will engage in observation, visual analysis, trend and pattern analysis, and visual investigations during this implementation. They are also responsible for the communication of dynamics and effective guidance of Protection Services responses under incident or emergency conditions.

      Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

      • Evaluate actions in risk areas and potential threats with reference to best practice requirements and regulations.
      • Interpret movement and behaviour of personnel within high-risk areas.
      • Monitor adherence to policies, procedures and standards and notify management of deviations.
      • Identify potential surveillance targets based on assessments of behaviour, presence and movement.
      • Initiate remote visual investigation and evidence gathering when an incident has occurred within the designated area of responsibility.
      • Verify and identity personnel in risk areas and ensure that only approved staff are in area.
      • Conduct in-depth surveillance on identified individuals.
      • Profile the characteristics, behaviour and movement of suspects.
      • Control operator consoles.
      • Generate recordings of behaviour for employee profiles.
      • Monitor and review alarms in high risk areas and note trends in alarm activation.
      • Reviews surveillance recordings to detect possible incidences in high risk and other areas.
      • Gather and record evidence on incident and events.
      • Notify supervisors of incidents.
      • Record suspicious behaviour or incidents for review and investigation.
      • View and evaluate x-ray images for illegal possession of PGM’s / company assets.
      • Write statements on incident or event conditions.
      • Analyse information in order to establish anomalies and patterns of behaviour.
      • Operate electronic access, camera and alarm systems to designated standards.
      • Evaluate seriousness of emergency and incident conditions and initiate emergency actions including contact with relevant personnel.
      • Initiate camera patrols in order to carry out visual checks on doors, detectors, cameras, and any other surveillance equipment, to ensure that they are in good working condition.
      • Report system and equipment faults.
      • Recommend changes to procedures and practices to facilitate security measures and client ease of use.
      • Evaluate possible steps for the improvement of security measures including lighting, camera positioning and procedures.
      • Recommend changes to Organisational practices to assist in making sites more surveillance friendly.
      • Complete incident reports and conduct follow up.
      • Testify on evidence in hearings.
      • Train / coach section personnel in operations, standards and procedures.
      • Conduct shift change over briefing.
      • Complete shift reports

      Complete and update security logs

      Qualifications

      • Grade 12
      • Registered with the PSIRA on grade B
      • Valid driver’s license code B
      • CCTV Advanced Surveillance Skills and body language Course

      Experience:

      • Minimum 4 years’ experience in Security or equivalent environment
      • 2 years’ experience in Control Room / Surveillance environment will be advantageous

      Knowledge and Skills:

      • Computer literacy
      • Communications in English (spoken, written and reading)
      • Writing of statements
      • Handling of various emergency situations in a Control Room context
      • Excellent interpersonal skills
      • No criminal record
      • Pass polygraph test
      • AAP Rules of engagement
      • Capable of successfully completing Vision and SAMAE assessments
