      Under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse, provides close observation of patients in person or virtually from a remote centralized monitoring station (CMS) and assists in the provision of a safe and clean environment. Monitors and documents patient movement and interactions. Communicates in a professional manner and redirects patients as needed. Responsible for providing close and/or continuous visual and tactile observation of patients who may be at risk for adverse events such as self-injury or harm to others. Notes changes in patient movement and recognizes safety risks and responds accordingly. Effectively communicates patient status with appropriate care providers. Notifies appropriate care providers of any potential falls risks immediately as they occur. Provides communication updates thorough shift change report. Tracks patients transferring to and from unit and leaving for procedures to provide constant observation while on the monitor. When providing in-person observation, may ambulate and assist the patient in and out of bed/chair with approval from the charge nurse/RN. He/She is accountable to the registered nurse/charge nurse responsible for coordinating unit activities and will receive assignment from Staffing Office or leader designee. Participates as a team member to ensure appropriate resources to all internal/external customers. Notifies IT Department of current or potential problems as needed. Checks central monitoring equipment for damage on a regular basis. May be required to float to various units and departments throughout all Palomar Health facilities. Follows orientation plan for new monitor technicians. Serves as resource for interdisciplinary team as needed. Maintains and updates knowledge of technology, policies and procedures. Speaks and reads English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position which includes the ability to interact verbally and in writing with assigned patients. Demonstrates appropriate use of technology as indicated in skills checklist. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.

      Job Requirements

      Minimum Education: High School Diploma and/or combination of education and experience
      Preferred Education:
      Minimum Experience: 2 years patient care experience or 24 months post high school education
      Preferred Experience: 3 years patient care experience with 24 months post high school education. Experience using CPO 2.0 virtual monitoring software and equipment
      Required Certification: Crisis Prevention (CPI) within 6 months of hire
      American Heart Association recognized BLS - Healthcare Provider
      BLS Healthcare Provider Initial RQI within 30 days of hire
