      Job summary

Due to career progression, a vacancy has arisen for either a Band 7 Clinical or Counselling Psychologist or a BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist to join our Trust-wide Adult Eating Disorders Service (AEDS). The post is substantive (0.8 WTE ) and the successful applicant will be joining what are established outpatient and day care multi-disciplinary community services for adults with moderate to severe eating disorders. They will be joining a warm and welcoming team with a passion for the delivery of high-quality care. Prior experience of working with adults with moderate to severe eating disorder presentations is desirable and a keen interest in working in the specialism is essential.

The successful applicant will be joining the service during an exciting period of service development and transformation. They will receive clinical supervision from a senior Psychologist (with BABCP Accreditation if required) and will work closely with AEDS psychological therapies team.

The post holder will be responsible for providing or contributing to the clinical supervision of Trainee Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists; this is, with support and, where applicable, training to assist in the development of these supervision skills.

      Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to carry out comprehensive assessments and formulations and plan, implement and evaluate the delivery of their psychological interventions (individual and group). They will additionally be required to contribute to the work and functioning of the multi-disciplinary team, where appropriate.

Applicants must be registered as Practitioner Psychologists with the HCPC and / or have BABCP Accreditation. With regards to the latter, the expectation is that the applicant will also have experience working in NHS mental health settings. Training and experience in the delivery of NICE concordant psychological therapies for adults with eating disorders (e.g., CBT-ED and MANTRA) is additionally desirable, but not essential as training will be sought for the successful applicant as might be needed.

The successful applicant will be able to drive a car and will have the use of a car during working hours. This is due to the requirement to sometimes travel between the AEDS bases (in Guildford and Epsom), and occasionally also to other Trust sites.

We are actively seeking to improve the diversity of the team to better reflect the community served and especially welcome applications from BAME candidates and men.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
