The Psychometrist I, as part of the ACH site wide Psychology Service, ensures their clinical practice is aligned with the vison and goals of the psychology service and delivered through a patient and family centered approach. Reporting to the Unit Manager for Psychology, the Psychometrist I is a Psychology Testing Assistant that supports the clinical work of neuropsychologists and medical psychologists for the Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH) site. The primary work of the psychology test assistant is the preparation, administration and scoring of intellectual, academic, cognitive and psychological tests. Work direction is provided by the neuropsychologists and medical psychologists from various clinical programs. Other psychometry tasks may include: referrals, patient chart review, contacting families, maintaining the clinical data base, participating in psychometric training of students, supporting the maintenance of and tasks associated with the psychology testing library and participating in research projects as assigned. You will receive training, mentoring, & leadership appropriate to your learning needs.
Description:
As a Psychometrist, you will provide services related to psychological assessment, working under the direction of the responsible psychologist(s). You will meet with patients and administer and score a variety of psychological tests, and record behavioural observations. Your information and results are provided to effectively support the psychologist(s) responsible for interpreting assessment data and any related clinical decision making or recommendations. You may also provide support to psychologists in their research and or evaluation activities.
Completion of bachelor's degree in Psychology from an accredited university.
Additional Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (or related fields such as Education, Rehabilitation, Kinesiology or Early Childhood Education) from a recognized University. 3 to 5 years of direct experience, working hands-on, with medically and behaviorally complex children aged 2-25. Recent (within the past 5 years) experience (minimum of 1 year) performing psychological testing for a Pediatric Neuropsychology Service in a hospital environment. Demonstrated attention to detail. Computer proficiency. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Personable, friendly and outgoing.
Preferred Qualifications:CPR trained. Experience of Connect Care.
