In addition, the RN Supervisor oversees the overall medication administration program and serves as the primary medical liaison with the DCF Central Office Medical Unit.
Starting Salary: $63,750 with years of service increases
Sign on bonus available! $8,000. Half of the bonus received at start and the other half received at one year of service!
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONSGraduation from an accredited nursing school plus 3 years of progressively responsible nursing experience required. Experience with children and adolescents is preferred. Exceptional communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are required. Supervisory experience is preferred.
Licensure Requirements for Clinical PositionsCredential(s) Required: Licensed as a Registered Nurse.

- For Work Life Balance- Generous paid time off, including vacation, sick time- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)- Free and confidential counseling- Employee discounts on cell phone servicesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInitiates and maintains nursing process for each youth to include initial assessment, development of a nursing care plan, ongoing documentation of assessments, interventions and revisions of youths' health status, submission of quarterly nursing assessments and immunization records to DCF, and completion of nursing discharge summaries.
Coordinates all health care, according to the Academy of Pediatrics Guidelines and DCF Psychotropic Medication Monitoring Protocol, obtains proper authorizations necessary for medical appointments, plans and administers individualized care to youth as ordered by licensed practitioners and authorized by guardian and/or DCF, as well as provides first aid as needed.
Supervises all aspects of medication administration including the safe storage and proper documentation of all medications, presentation of monthly in-service trainings, maintains documentation of quarterly continuing education regarding medication administration policies and procedures and DCF updates for medication certified staff, as well as provides on-site testing for all medication certified staff.
Serves as a consultant/resource to staff, parents, guardians, and community health providers with regard to the individual health needs of youth, in order to maintain continuity of medical and psychiatric care.
Attends and participates in weekly staff meetings, individual treatment plan meetings, and therapeutic milieu opportunities.
Adheres to confidentiality guidelines, reports child abuse/neglect as mandated, ensures that programs meet nursing related licensing, regulatory and accreditation standards, and oversees quality improvement and outcome measure activities.Performs job responsibilities consistent with standards for best practice nursing, including excellent communication with all providers and utilization of relationally-based, trauma informed therapeutic interventions to ensure the delivery of high quality careMust be able to pass a respirator fit test at time of hire and on an annual basis.Oversees the overall medication administration program in congregate care and conducts investigations of medication errors in order to present recommendations to the Program Managers, Associate Directors, Director, and Department Vice President.Manages medication refills for providers in accordance with department Medication ProtocolInteracts with, counsels and relates to youth in ways that support asset-building through praising youth, focusing on their strengths and helping them to take responsibility for their choices and behaviors in a manner consistent with their treatment plan.Trains and participates in emergency safety interventions authorized and approved by the agency, when a student presents with an imminent safety concern.
Consults on the preparation of nutritious and culturally diverse meals for children in the program and ensures that their daily care and developmental needs are met.Assists with the engagement of youth is developmentally appropriate health related life skill development activities.Administers medication to youth according to agency policy and procedures.Participates in the development of policies and procedures related to medication administration and other health related issues and instructs staff accordingly.Ensures compliance with DCF, PNMI, and JCAHO standards and regulations.Provides input to the Program Supervisor regarding performance evaluations of medication certified staff.Continues to develop knowledge and understanding about the history, traditions, values, family systems, and artistic expression of groups served as well as uses appropriate methodological approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding of culture.Wheeler Clinic is an equal opportunity employer.
