      Our Richmond, BC office is looking for talent to fill our Public Affairs Intern position. Hourly pay range is between $20 - $23 depending on school term.

      Job Summary:

      The successful candidate will work in our Richmond, BC location and will play a key role in supporting the company's government relations, public affairs, and corporate affairs efforts.       Key Responsibilities:

      • Support the development of government relations strategies, including monitoring policy and regulatory changes, and engagement with key stakeholders.
      • Assist in the preparation of memos, briefing notes, presentations, and other materials for internal and external audiences.
      • Conduct research and analysis on emerging issues, trends, and best practices in the areas of government relations, public affairs, and corporate affairs.
      • Support the implementation of stakeholder engagement plans, and participate in meetings, events, and consultations.
      • Assist with the development and administration of corporate social responsibility initiatives, including sustainability reporting and community engagement activities.
        • This includes administration of corporate giving agreements (working with donation recipients and internal legal team, etc.)
      • Track and support company associations, affiliations, committees, and memberships participation, and maintain stakeholder maps for Canada.
      • Monitor news and media coverage related to the pulp and paper industry and provide regular updates to the Corporate Affairs team on relevant stories and trends.
      • Contribute to the development of communication materials, such as press releases, talking points, and social media content, to support the company's corporate affairs objectives.
      • Conduct benchmarking and best practices research to identify opportunities for the company to improve its government relations, public affairs, and corporate affairs efforts.
      • Provide administrative and analytical support to the Senior Director of Government Relations for Western Canada.
      • Report to the Senior Director of Government Relations for Western Canada.
      • Provide support for internal and external communications, including drafting and editing content for the company's website, social media channels, and other platforms.
      • Assist with the organization and execution of company-sponsored events, such as open houses and mill tours, to showcase the company's operations and products.
      • Take meeting notes and minutes and prepare summaries for internal and external use.
      • Provide support to the corporate affairs team in other areas as needed.

      Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree in relevant degree program, such as political science, public policy, business, or communications.
      • Strong interest in government relations, public affairs, and corporate affairs.
      • Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and communicate effectively.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
      • Has previous experience working in government or the natural resources sector.
      • Is courteous and diplomatic in their communication style.
      • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
      • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
      • Willingness to travel (up 25%) either in Ottawa or Montreal office.
      • Fluency in additional languages is a plus.
