      ABOUT THE ROLE

      The Public Areas Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the Lobby, Pool, Public areas, back of the house and offices. In addition, the Public Space Attendant refreshes and maintains the cleanliness of the public bathrooms around the hotel and performs special projects for the Housekeeping Staff and does so without disrupting any of the daily functions of the hotel or without disturbing guests.

      SCOPE OF WORK + TEAM (Director of Housekeeping/Supervisor)

      • Reports to Director of Housekeeping/Executive Housekeeper/Housekeeping Manager

      • Supports Housekeeping team

      RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Walk all assigned areas at beginning and end of shift; remove newspapers, pick up and replace towels in pool area, empty trash containers, and ash urn in public areas into proper containers. Dusts all tables, lamps, and ledges in all public areas and corridors and other assigned areas. Inspect condition of furniture for tears, rips, and stains and report damages. Clean and maintain lights.

      • Maintains supply levels in the public areas, i.e. pads and pencils, toilet paper, and Kleenex. Maintains and cleans all public washrooms, checking twice each hour. Makes routine checks of all public areas to ensure cleanliness. Maintains the cleanliness of all windows, glass, and doors in public and employee areas.

      • Checks elevators, pool area, mops floor, cleans carpets, and polishes brass as necessary. Maintains elevator tracks. Performs cleaning tasks in public areas, including vacuuming, sweeping, moping, and collecting garbage.

      • Clean public and employee restrooms and showers. Clean floor surfaces in public or employee space using designated chemicals, supplies, and equipment.

      • Post caution signs to limit traffic when necessary. Contact other departments directly for urgent repairs. Respond promptly to requests from guests and other departments. Identify and report preventive or other maintenance issues in public areas or guest rooms.

      • Respond at all times, in a friendly, helpful and courteous manner to guests, managers and fellow associates. Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures. Report all guest issues and complaints to management

      • Coordinate with Housekeeping Supervisor on work priorities, provide assistance, attend meetings as required by management.

      • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.

      Qualifications

      Prior Experience:

      • 1+ years Previous housekeeping experience.

      Subject Expertise:

      • Report any unusual occurrences and/or request to Supervisor.

      • Read and abide by all the regulations and rules of conduct stated in the Associate Handbook.

      • Must be able to effectively communicate to guests, management, and coworkers

      • Must be able to follow directions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy

      • Must be a team player with the ability to work under minimal supervision

      • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment

      • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.

      • Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

      • Ability to stand for the entire shift.

      • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.

      • Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.

      • Must be able to exercise confidentiality and discretion.

      OTHER EXPECTATIONS:

      • Abide by payroll policies, procedures and rules of conduct as stated in the Springboard Hospitality Associate Handbook.

      • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all company safety and security procedures.

      • Hours Required: Must primarily work during Springboard Hospitality business hours, while understanding that the hotel business functions 24/7 and some weekend or holiday work may occasionally be required.

      EXPERIENCE:

      • Prior Experience:
        • 1+ Previous housekeeping, hospitality, experience preferred, but not required.
      • IT Expertise:
        • Advanced knowledge of computer software (including Microsoft Office, outlook) and web analytics tools is preferred.
      • Education:
        • High School diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
      • Subject Expertise:
        • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all property safety and security procedures as required maintaining a secure and safe environment for employees as well as guests.
        • Report any unusual occurrences and/or request to Supervisor.
        • Read and abide by all the regulations and rules of conduct stated in the Associate Handbook.
        • Must be service oriented with excellent customer service and sales skills
        • Must be able to effectively communicate to guests, management, and coworkers and read, write and understand the English language
        • Must be energetic and outgoing
        • Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
        • Must be able to follow directions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
        • Must be a team player with the ability to work under minimal supervision
        • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
        • Must be able to understand and work with basic financial information and solve basic arithmetic problems
        • Must be able to type 45 wpm and have the ability to input data and access information on the computer
        • Must have proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Opera; preferred.
        • Must be able to exercise confidentiality and discretion.

      • Travel required: As needed for hotel familiarization, content creation shoots and to meet with colleagues.
      • Hours Required: Must primarily work during Springboard Hospitality business hours, Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm (PST), while understanding that the hotel business functions 24/7 and some weekend or holiday work may occasionally be required.
