      The Opportunity:

      Responsible for interviewing uninsured/underinsured patients to determine eligibility for a state Medicaid benefit or a client's financial assistance program. Assists with application processes to facilitate accurate and appropriate submissions. Follows-up on submitted applications to insure timely billing or adjustment processing. Reviews, verifies, bills potential insurance coverages missed at registration.

      Job Responsibilities:

      • Reviews and interview all referred uninsured/underinsured patients for potential program eligibility opportunities for state, federal, and grant funding, cobra, ACA Marketplace plans and all other programs.
      • Acts as authorized representative to initialize and coordinates the application process to facilitate accurate and appropriate submissions for all program eligibility.
      • Effectively communicates with the patient to obtain documents that must accompany the application. Follows submitted applications to determination point, updates applicable insurance information and ensures timely billing or adjustment posting.
      • Documents all relevant actions and communication steps in assigned patient accounting systems while working across multiple client systems and assigned workflow tools.
      • Maintains working knowledge of all state & federal program requirements including disability and Medicaid eligibility, the health systems financial assistance program and 501R compliance and shares information with colleagues and supervisors. Represents the patient in all appeals processes.
      • Works collaboratively with other revenue cycle departments and associates with a special emphasis on Case Management, Patient Access, Financial Counseling and Physician office staff. Develops & maintains proactive working relationships with county/state/federal Medicaid caseworker partners.
      • Must become certified application counselor and assist in the Affordable Care Act Marketplace enrollment process, to guide patients on the application process and selection of plans.
      • Understanding of client payors, eligibility portals, basic knowledge of insurance billing, coverages, remittance review, and coordination of benefits.

      Required Education:

      • High School Diploma or GED

      Required Experience:

      • Minimum Years and Type of Experience: 2+ years' experience interacting with patients regarding hospital financial issues, Medicaid regulations and/or hospital billing.
      • Superior customer service skills and ability to communicate with all levels effectively.
      • Accustomed to substantial computer use and possesses a strong ability to multi-task required.

      Required Qualifications:

      • Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) within 9 months of hire
