      The Public Health Liaison will assist in receiving, processing and disseminating information relating to Hidalgo County’s Health & Human Services department. In order to maintain an accurate operational picture of the needs and plans of all the divisions involved the Hidalgo County Health & Human Services the Public Health Liaison will report directly to the Director and Assistant Director.
      May assign and/or supervise the work of others. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
      Coordinate media events for Hidalgo County Health Director.
      Promote the seven (7) Health & Human Services division services and events.
      Work with the seven (7) Health & Human Services divisions with any advertising needs.
      Work with the Hidalgo County Public Information Office to disseminate all public service announcements, social media, website for the Health & Human Services department.
      Responsible for the maintenance of the department website, social media, etc.
      Disseminate information, when necessary, in response to media inquiries.
      Develop and maintain relationships with the local media, including newspaper and electronic outlet.
      Promote division and department goals while ensuring compliance with state, federal and local policies and procedures, regulations and division rules.
      Responds to Hidalgo County Health & Human Services urgent or emergent events as required to protect the residents and / or staff of Hidalgo County.
      May conduct public hearings and group discussions related to Hidalgo County Health & Human Services programs, regulations, or proposals.
      Keep the seven (7) divisions informed about progress, milestones, potential and emerging challenges, and feedback.
      Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support department services.
      Act as a department liaison to community and professional groups to coordinate, improve, and stimulate interest in the assigned program or activities
      Performs all other related duties as assigned.
      Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business management, public relations, public health administration, journalism or related field.
      • Two (2) years of related experience may be substituted for one (1) year of education

      Master’s degree in Public Administration, Public Health Administration, preferred but not required.
      Five (5) years of experience in department coordination, business management, public health administration or public relations.

      Certificates, Licenses and Registration:

      Must have a current valid Texas motor vehicle operator’s license.

      Must be able to be insured by the County’s insurance carrier.
