What is WIC, you ask?
Here's a broad overview: WIC provides nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion, education and support, referrals to other health care providers, high risk nutrition counseling, immunizations and supplemental foods. The supplemental foods that participants receive while on the WIC program meet daily nutrient needs such as vitamins A and C, folic acid, calcium and iron.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will provide WIC, Oral Health and Immunization Program services within the Community Clinical Services Division of the Kent County Health Department. Duties will include hemoglobin and anthropometric assessments, nutrition assessment and counseling, breastfeeding and lactation support, providing medical and social referrals, oral health screenings and fluoride varnish applications as well as assessing immunization records, educating clients on vaccine preventable diseases and administering routine and travel vaccinations.
Clinic based work schedule: Full Time schedule consists of Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm (exception: the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month are Night Clinic with hours between 10am-7pm); no weekends or holidays.
2 024 Starting Wages:
$30.45 - A Step: Associate Degree in Nursing with 36 months or less experience as a Registered Nurse.
$31.57 - B Step: Associate Degree in Nursing with 37 months to 60 months of experience as a Registered Nurse.
$32.96 - C Step: Bachelor of Science in Nursing with 36 months or less of experience as a Registered Nurse; or Associate Degree in Nursing with 61 months or more of experience as a Registered Nurse.
$34.04 - D Step: Bachelor of Science in Nursing with 37 months or more experience as a Registered Nurse.
*This position is referral bonus eligible.Graduation from a National League of Nursing accredited nursing institution and current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
Desire breastfeeding educational certifications (IBCLC, CLS, CLE) and experience working with maternal, infant and child populations.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to be highly efficient while ensuring attention to detail is required.
Must interact positively and professionally with internal and external customers, and members of the general public from widely divergent cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Ability to provide client service from a culturally aware and client driven perspective and deliver excellent customer service to all clients while following HIPAA guidelines is essential.
Must be able to provide services to clients in a variety of County locations and possess a valid, unrestricted Michigan driver’s license and have access to regular transportation.All Kent County Health Department employees, regardless of position, are required to have their immunization status assessed and vaccinations brought up to date in accordance with the current CDC recommendations for health care professionals, with exceptions only as required by law. Mandatory vaccines include annual influenza vaccination.
