  The CDC utilize Direct Hire Authority to fill vacancies in a variety of occupations. The vacancy is a REPOSITORY of applications.

  This public notice will be used to fill the positions listed below at multiple grade levels and locations.

  Qualifications
  
  
  Basic Qualifications
  • Degree: microbiology; or biology, chemistry, or basic medical science that included at least 20 semester hours in microbiology & other subjects related to the study of microorganisms, & 20 semester hours in the physical & mathematical sciences combining course work in organic chemistry or biochemistry, physics, & college algebra, or their equivalent
  OR
  • Combination of education & experience: courses equivalent to a major in microbiology, biology, chemistry, or basic medical science that included courses as above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
  GS-9 positions that involve a substantial amount of work in a specific specialized area or applied field of microbiology, at least 6 months of the experience must either have been in the appropriate area of specialization or applied field of microbiology or have direct application in the area for which the applicant is being considered.
  
  GS-11 & higher grades of specialized positions, experience must have been sufficiently specialized to ensure adequate familiarity with the area of specialization or applied field of microbiology or have direct application in the area for which the applicant is being considered.
  
  In addition to Basic Qualifications above, Minimum Qualifications must be met:
  • GS-7:
    • At least 1 year of graduate-level education OR
    • Superior Academic Achievement (See Education section) OR
    • 1 year of specialized experience (GS-5 equivalent) OR
    • A combination of education & experience
  • GS-9:
    • At least 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree OR
    • 1 year of specialized experience (GS-7 equivalent) OR
    • A combination of education & experience
  • GS-11:
    • At least 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR
    • 1 year of specialized experience (GS-9 equivalent) OR
    • A combination of education & experience
  • GS-12 & above:
    • At least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level
