      Grounds For Sculpture (GFS) is building a more equitable institution. We are looking for individuals, at all levels of the institution, who are interested in joining us on this journey of intentionality and public accountability. This path broadens our workforce (board, staff, volunteers), expands our artist selection and acquisition practice as well as strengthens our internal and external communication systems, networks and norms.

      We are seeking motivated individuals with a passion for art, wellness and/or horticulture to join our internship program. This 10-week internship will offer hands-on training and a chance to become an integral part of our Education Department.

      About the Internship:

      • Location: Onsite
      • Hours: Approximately 8-10 hours per week
      • Compensation: $15.49 per hour
      • Experience: Gain valuable skills, knowledge, and experiences to support your personal and professional growth. This program is open to all individuals, regardless of educational background, who have a strong interest in the fields of art, wellness and/or horticulture.

      Position Overview:

      The Public Programs Intern supports the Director of Education and Engagement, in the scheduling, production, and implementation of interactive, hands-on programs geared towards children, families, and adults. This position collaborates across many departments and partners to provide meaningful learning experiences for all visitors.

      The primary duties of the Public Programs Intern are to assist the Education Department by shadowing and coordinating art, horticulture and wellness programming. This requires supporting the production of an array of public and private programs, including studio-based and horticulture-rooted workshops, drop-in programs for intergenerational and family audiences, wellness offerings geared towards adults, a very active teambuilding program for private and corporate groups, extended community partnership programs, performances, and other small and large-scale events throughout the internship term. Special projects and assistance with facilitation of informal education offerings in the galleries and studios are assigned as needed.


      Responsibilities:

      • Assists the Education Department with creating and coordinating educational related programs for all ages.
      • Composing interdepartmental communications to notify Grounds For Sculpture teams of scheduled events
      • Acting as a point person on the day of an event, either with education staff or independently.
      • Engage in an interest-based project
      • Maintaining education studio spaces in a manner that is inviting and accessible to all visitors.
      • Performs special projects assigned by the Director of Education and Engagement.
      • Assisting with the facilitation of an array of informal education offerings in the galleries and studios.

      Qualifications:

      • Self-motivated, highly organized, and a creative team player.
      • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
      • Demonstrated commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) practices.
      • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
      • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently or as part of a team.
      • Knowledge of art materials and techniques is a plus.
      • Demonstrate respect and inclusiveness to all employees, embracing differences
      • Occasional weekend work required
