      Public Relations Placement Year 2024

      Location: Weybridge

      We are seeking two placement students with a passion for public relations and communication to become the PR placement interns at Sony Europe. In those roles, you will be involved in all day-to-day activities of the public relations department, including collaborating with agencies, coordinating events, drafting press releases, coverage monitoring and reporting, and arranging product reviews.

      Throughout this 12-month paid placement, you will be given the opportunity to not only expand your knowledge in public relations and gain valuable transferable skills, but also to get an exciting insight into Sony’s PR operation actively contributing to our media presence in Europe. Working within an established team, you will be offered experienced mentorship alongside multiple development opportunities.

      Throughout the placement, you will:

      • Provide event support at European trade and consumer media events, including coordination, logistics and on-the-ground media liaison and product demos.
      • Build understanding of consumer insights and target audiences to develop creative, content-led and sustained editorial PR campaigns for our products.
      • Draft product press releases.
      • Analyse media and influencer coverage and produce coverage reports.
      • Coordinate information between central and in-country PR teams to maintain coherency in communication.
      • Support the team with administrative tasks (e.g. maintaining a shared drive, preparing documents and presentations, raising purchase orders for suppliers).
      • Work with the internal communications team to ensure employees are kept up-to-date with interesting and timely PR topics, such as product launches, awards, and coverage.

      You will bring:

      • Enthusiastic and proactive attitude to working on evolving projects and ad hoc duties.
      • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
      • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint).

      You will be studying for an undergraduate degree in Public Relations, Communications or Media-related, with eligibility for a 12-month placement starting July 2024.

      Our recruitment process.

      The job posting will be open until 9th November. Afterwards, the selected candidates will be asked to complete an automated video interview. In December, the best-performing candidates will be invited to an interview. We are aiming to finalise our recruitment process by the end of December.

      Your new office: Weybridge.

      Based at the Weybridge office, you will enjoy a vibrant and friendly working environment. We have an onsite canteen with a wide range of options available, and a barista style coffee shop. There is a well-provisioned onsite gym run by our own Sony Wellbeing Coordinator, with classes on set days in the mornings, at lunch and after work hours. We have a staff car park which includes electric charging points, an undercover and secure bike rack (useful if you’ve made the most of the Cycle-to-Work scheme), or if you will use public transport we have a shuttle bus service that regularly runs between train station and the office at peak times.
