      Summary

      The role of public relations is to position First Horizon favorably within the financial services industry and in our East Tennessee markets, with a focus on Knoxville and surrounding areas.

      Reporting directly to the Knoxville Market President, the public relations specialist develops and executes plans to drive client growth, promote our brand, and invest in the community in meaningful ways.

      Key Responsibilities Include

      • Developing and executing our community investment strategy, including budget management and ROI.
      • Leading activation of regional sponsorships, most notably including UT Athletics, by coordinating marketing and experiential assets
      • Creating differentiated events and client experiences to build relationships with clients and centers of influence.
      • Managing local media relationships, pitching stories in collaboration with our corporate team and local PR firms.
      • Serving as a highly visible brand advocate in community.
      • Building our brand recognition on social media by promoting community partnerships, sponsorships, and talent.
      • Positioning bank management as key leaders in their respective communities, developing associated communications.
      • Writing compelling content for local publications, internal newsletters, and public speaking engagements.
      • Partnering with our Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) manager to achieve market level goals and objectives.
      • Working with our banking teams to develop and sustain client relationships (primarily commercial and private client).
      • Collaborating with our Corporate Communications and Marketing functions to implement company-wide strategics and provide market-level feedback.

      Qualifications Include

      • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to interface effectively with internal and external audiences
      • Energetic, self-motivated, and team-oriented
      • Ability to work efficiently with a high level of attention to detail
      • Must be able to work independently with limited supervision and be able to respond effectively to competing priorities
      • Strong technical skills, especially MS Office and social media platforms
      • Marketing/communications/public relations experience preferred
      • 4-year degree in relevant fields preferred
      • Experience working with Knoxville area non-profits and community leaders a plus
