      The Public Safety Officer / Security Officer performs security and emergency/crisis response tasks and activities to proactively maintain the hospital campus and outreach community centers in a safe and secure environment. Interacts with employees, patients and guests with the highest levels of professionalism and customer service. Appearance standards and verbal skills are vital in creating confidence when interacting with the public.

      The Public Safety Officer / Security Officer will have the below responsibilities:

      • Ability to ensure, through proactive techniques, the security and safety of all employees, patients and guests with the highest levels of professionalism and customer service in order to create the securest and safest environment possible
      • Respond to a variety of emergencies/ crisis situations and provide the necessary intervention to restore normal conditions and begin treatment of injured persons
      • Proactively protects the health system’s facilities and assets in order to prevent damage and loss
      • Enforces compliance to the health system’s policies, practices and directives related to the safety and security of facilities, employees, patients and guests in order to ensure the safest and most secure environment
      • Adheres to federal, state, local and health system laws, regulations and ordinances to ensure compliance and good legal and ethical standings

      Hours:

      • Full Time, 40 hrs/wk
      • Night Shift, Weeekend Work Required
      • Location: St. Petersburg, FL

      Requirements:

      • A minimum of a High School diploma, GED, Certificate of Completion or equivalent achievement
      • Previous experience within a security, law enforcement, military, corrections, EMS or public safety or guest services sectors is highly preferred
      • State of Florida Class D Security License or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire
      • Current State of Florida Driver’s License
      • Obtain company provided courses and certifications within 6 months and recertify annually CPR/First Aid, BLS, Physical Restraint Practical and Safe Driving Course
      • Obtain CPI within 6 months and recertify every two years
      • Must be knowledgeable of security methods and practices, have public relations/ customer service experience

      Salary Range: Minimum 16.05/hour - Maximum 25.69/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

      In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
