Job Summary : Identify and correct security risks and safety hazards to provide a secure and safe environment for patients, employees and visitors. Conduct patrols of hospital and grounds, affiliated practices, and departments outside of the hospital and take appropriate actions to help prevent fire, theft, accidents, visitor confusion, disturbances or other undesirable conditions. Respond to calls for assistance from employees, patients, visitors and physicians and provide appropriate assistance promptly. Provide battery boosts, auto unlocks, tire inflations, escorts, door unlocks and any other service as directed by the supervisor. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Anticipate customers' needs and respond appropriately. Use excellent customer service skills. Utilize de-escalation skills in aggressive situations. Maintain accurate records for report writing, patient valuables, and morgue duties. Act as team training officer.
Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent required. All requirements of PSO I must be met prior to current employees moving to PSO II. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Possesses current Unarmed Security Officer Certification from NC Private Protective Services Board, IAHSS Basic Certification, CPI, & BLS Certifications and completed training for secondary non-lethal weapons. New hires to the PSO II position with at least 1 year consecutive law enforcement or hospital security experience, having separated in good standing, will be considered, but must attain all certifications within 180 days of hire date. HazMat Certification preferred.
