Job Description
- Req#: 12267
- Protect persons and property from unlawful activities and provide a safe and secure campus environment.
- Observe/report unlawful/unauthorized activity. Identify suspicious persons, behaviors and circumstances that may pose a public safety risk and take immediate and appropriate action to prevent incidents.
- Patrol campus/buildings. Monitor building-conditions and respond to unsafe conditions, hazards, and emergencies, etc., following safety guidelines. Respond to public safety alarms and assist with lockouts.
- Enforce parking regulations, give directions and respond to requests for assistance and information.
- Handle special assignments directed by the Public Safety Director/Supervisors, such as: driving the campus shuttle between locations on a regular or intermittent schedule, special events, reception/visitor building posts, and working in command office as needed.

Position is responsible for providing a secure environment and to reduce security risks in the college campus.

Qualifications
Education Requirement: High School Diploma.
Licenses or Certifications: NYS Security Certification, valid Driver’s License
Technical/Computer skills: Basic Computers (MS Word), Telephone, AED, Fire Alarm System. Campus Vehicle, if necessary.
Prior Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience in a professional environment
Additional Qualifications/Requirements: Professional and well groomed appearance. Exceptional customer relations/customer service skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of campus, events, schedules, and college policies and procedures.
Provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
Must be able to adequately fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation as necessary when providing a safe and secure environment and when responding to emergency situations, aggressive individuals or on rounds throughout the campus and on all floors of buildings.
Problem Solving and Decision Making
Complete Responsibility: Site inspections, maintenance and accountability of equipment, incident reporting. Parking issues and directions for visitors. Assist with medical emergencies in building. Monitor fire alarms, report building conditions or hazards.
Refer to supervisor/manager: Unlawful or unauthorized incidents on campus such as vandalism, thefts, disorderly persons.
Physical demands: Use strength to lift items needed to perform the function of the job. Sit, stand, and walk, including ability to walk up and down several flights of stairs, for required periods of time within a reasonable period of time. Speak and hear clearly. Use close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception along with ability to focus. Remain alert at all times.
Environmental demands: Occasional exposure to a variety of weather conditions. Exposure to heated/air conditioned and ventilated facilities. Exposure to a building in which a variety of chemical substances are used for cleaning or operation of equipment. Function in a workplace that is usually very active during day and quiet in the evenings.
