Public safety affects everybody, and the community depends on the Wisconsin State Journal, a division of Lee Enterprises, to deliver complete, reliable information on crime trends.

We're looking for a reporter who can scour the data and find trends on everything from bicycle thefts to violent crime. The ideal candidate will have a sense of urgency and a desire to dig deep, push for public records and build sources.

You’ll also be the news organization’s first responder to developing stories, requiring both compassion in dealing with people affected by crime and a steeliness of purpose getting the story no matter the obstacles.

Forever young, Madison is renowned for its beauty, outdoor recreation opportunities and a strong food and entertainment scene.

At least two years of daily newspaper reporting experience is preferred. The ideal candidate will also have some facility in video and still photography.
