Job Description

- Maintains computerized inventory records; ensures the proper levels of stock and materials as required for departmental operations.
- Conducts annual inventory.
- Obtains and documents price quotes for competitive purchasing of parts and supplies; maintains effective communications with sales representatives and vendors.
- Oversees the shipping and receiving of equipment, parts and materials. Operates a forklift to load and unload equipment and supplies; picks up parts from vendors.
- Maintains vehicle condition, maintenance and service schedule records.
Equivalent to the completion of twelfth (12th) grade.
A minimum of one (1) year of experience in mechanical, inventory, or other related field.
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Requires a valid California driver’s license.
A valid Class A or Class B driver’s license is preferred.

About the Position:
Under the supervision of the Fleet Operations Manager, monitors and maintains inventory control records for the County Road Department and Fleet Maintenance shops.Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

The department is currently recruiting for one (1) anticipated vacancy occurring May 2025.
In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for a Public Works Inventory Controller, as well as subsequent vacancies which occur during the life of the eligibility list.
New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range. Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step.
