      OUP is a mission-led organization delivering excellence in education around the globe through publishing. The Publishing Assistant, Journals supports our Journals Publishers and Society Partners to enhance our multi-disciplinary portfolios of academic journals by managing a team inbox. In this role, every day is different with a mix of daily tasks and a variety of team project opportunities and includes independent and collaborative work. This role is perfect for someone innovative, self-motivated, a team player, and someone who is looking to build skills in academic journals publishing. The role contains a balance of analytics and relationship building. The Publishing Assistant, Journals role can either be hybrid out of our New York City or Cary, NC offices or remotely in the United States.

      Key Accountabilities include:

      • Assist in the management of existing journals through administrative and research support
      • Prepare the regular publishing update reports for Society partner journals covering a wide range of performance measures
      • Provide regular data reports and analytics to support and develop Journal strategies
      • Organize meetings, attending and taking minutes as appropriate, undertaking catering, travel and room booking arrangements and paying of expenses
      • Completing relevant payments and tracking efficiently and accurately
      • Ensuring journal home pages are up to date, for example by maintaining Editorial Board details, or adding new data or features
      • Maintain relevant and appropriate gratis subscriptions across a list of titles
      • Assist in maintaining the journals contracts repository and maintain best practice in data management
      • Assist in the acquisition process with preparation of proposals
      • Work with other U.S. and UK Journals departments as required to accomplish tasks and enhance communications between NY, Cary, and Oxford, UK.
      • Assist in launch of acquired journals and participate in launch meetings
      • Special projects as assigned, including assisting with organization of annual U.S. Oxford Journals Day

      ABOUT YOU

      • Good organizational skills and the ability to work independently
      • The ability to pick up new tasks and learn new systems and processes quickly
      • A good team spirit and the ability to work collaboratively
      • Self-discipline with the ability to manage and balance priorities under time pressure
      • Good attention to detail and numeracy
      • Excellent spoken and written English
      • Experience with Microsoft Office products, especially Microsoft Excel
      • Data Analysis skills

      Position Location: This role can be hybrid, based out of Cary, NC (2 times a week in office) or New York City, NY. This role can also be remote in the United States

      GJC Level: S2 (for internal purposes only)

      Salary: $31,500-$45,000 dependent on skills and experience
