Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Non-ExemptJob Role Summary
Provides respiratory services to inpatients and outpatients with respect to acuity, age, procedure, and testing. Is responsible for all professional requirements including licensure, attendance of meetings, annual education, and quarterly competencies. Pulmonary Physiology Lab Technologists will be responsible for knowledge of all diagnostic testing performed in the lab. Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health’s mission: Advocate, Care, Teach, and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
• Administers respiratory care and performs pulmonary function testing in assigned areas as ordered by a provider
• Performs and administers prognostic and diagnostic oximetry testing as ordered by a provider
• Provides accurate, complete, and timely documentation of all patient care administered
• Complies with all organizational policies including state licensure, practice guidelines, required credentialing, and passing all required competencies
• Complies with the AARC Statement of Ethics and Professional Conduct
• Participates in continuing education and in-services to maintain an optimal skill set
• Attends 75% of all departmental meetings
• Ability to serve as a resource to coworkers and all disciplines within the organization
• Ability to calibrate, utilize, and troubleshoot all equipment in assigned areas
• Submits accurate and complete charges via the electronic medical record in coordination with accurate documentation
• Provides indicated education regarding care to patients and families as needed
• Ensures quality testing in accordance to ATS standardsJob Requirements
• Graduate from an AMA approved program for Respiratory Care with a minimum of an Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy
• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of Indiana
• Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the NBRC
• Full-time employees must be credentialed as a Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) by the NBRC; new employees will be required to attempt the RPFT exam within twelve (12) months from the date of hire and obtain the RPFT credential within twenty-four (24) months from the date of hire
• Part-time employees must be credentialed as a Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) by the NBRC; new employees will be required to attempt the CPFT exam within twelve (12) months from the date of hire and obtain the CPFT credential within twenty-four (24) months from the date of hire
• Current ALS or ACLS, BLS, NRP, and PALS credentials
