      Job summary

      The Rotherham Foundation Trust is looking to recruit further Purple Butterfly Volunteers. These volunteers will receive specialist training from our trust to enable them to offer a further support network to patients who are receiving End-of-life care at Rotherham hospital.

      This training will be ongoing whilst a Volunteer remains with The Rotherham Foundation Trust.

      Main duties of the job

      Offering dying patients company and comfort as they approach the end of their life.

      Supporting patients families, especially those who are not able to visit or who need/would like some respite from the bedside.

      Understand what services are available for patients and their families at such a time to be able to offer the best support.

      Help to improve the working environment on a ward, in the way of staff knowing the patients and families have a further network of support available.

      You will need to provide a minimum of 3 hours per week.

      At this time the service hours for Purple Butterfly Volunteers are 10am-1pm & 1pm-4pm- Monday- Friday. (These times are likely to develop further as the service develops).

      This role with be a Trust wide role, supporting all in-patients wards when required.
