      Provides information systems and computer support for employees, customers of the Department of State, and therefore the people of Colorado. Most of the work completed by the division can be done remotely, contributing to the positive work-life balance of its employees. Staff develops, upgrades, enhances, and maintains computer applications and system software, hardware, and peripherals for the use of Departmental staff, Colorado counties, and the general public. Processing and storing data received from Colorado counties for voter registration, charitable gaming licenses, UCC filings, domestic and foreign corporations, notary, campaign finance, and lobbyist systems. The Colorado Department of State is unique from many state agencies in that we are a smaller agency with an in-house IT division, as a result our employees maintain greater collective impact over the work product of the Department.


      Illustration of some key duties:
      To ensure that Department software applications function for the purposes described in each respective project charter, this position:
      • Works as an IT Development expert in Quality Assurance and Test Management.
      • Performs testing of CDOS software applications, being involved in all aspects of the software cycle and providing coaching and subject matter expertise to other QA team members.
      • Develops and maintains automated test scripts for regression testing, analyzing test results for failures and reporting to developers for necessary fixes.
      • Unit supervisor, overseeing four QA Engineers. Provide feedback, coaching, and subject matter expertise to other QA team members. Identify training and developmental needs, resolve problems, performance issues, disputes, and informal grievances and initiate corrective action or recommend progressive discipline as needed.
      • Manages User Acceptance testing and support, composing test plans for internal testing and for guiding end users through the User Acceptance Testing process.

      A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and state seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. While all offers are compliant with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, there is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis.

      Minimum Qualifications:
      This position requires a total of 6 years of relevant professional experience and/or education in a field of study related to the work. To be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate that you meet one of the following options outlined below:

      OPTION 1 - Experience Only:
      Six (6) years of professional experience, one (1) of whichmust have been at the level of a work leader, staff authority, unit supervisor, or equivalent. This must include a combination of at least two of the following:
      • Testing Java-based and .Net software applications.
      • Development and maintenance of automated test scripts.
      • Experience with User Acceptance Testing in an agile scrum team environment.
      • Quality Assurance experience.
      OR

      OPTION 2 - Education and Experience:
      A combination of related education in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Engineering, formalized apprenticeship program, certification, and/or of professional experience to equal six (6) years, one (1) of which must have been at the level of a work leader, staff authority, unit supervisor, or equivalent. This must include a combination of at least twoof the following:
      • Testing Java-based and .Net software applications.
      • Development and maintenance of automated test scripts.
      • Experience with User Acceptance Testing in an agile scrum team environment.
      • Quality Assurance experience.
      The following trainings or certifications will be considered as a substitution for 6 months of the required experience:
      • Certified Test Engineer (CSTE)
      • Certified Software Quality Analyst (CSQA)
      • Certified Manager of Software Quality (CMSQ)
      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
      • Preference will be given to candidates with previous State Service related to the work assigned to the position
      • Experience writing automated test scripts
      • Experience writing and following test plans and test cases
      • Strong interpersonal skills
      • Experience using Selenium and/or other test automation tools
      • Ability to learn new applications quickly
      • Certification or other formal training in Quality Assurance
      • Extensive supervisory experience to include performance management of employees
      • Highly collaborative and able to give as well as receive feedback
      • Experience with User Acceptance testing
