- Microbiological monitoring and the initiation and management of action plans and follow-up activities for raw materials, product, manufacturing equipment, the plant and the water systems
- Ensures validity/quality of cleaning and sanitization procedures for production equipment
- Devises and implements strategies for assuring clean production after contamination
- Researches/validates/implements new microbial test methods
- Identifies (genus & species) product/equipment Microbial contaminants
- Develops microbiological methods and protocols for water, raw materials, finished goods, facility and production equipment
- Provides technical expertise to cross-functional teams involved in validating water systems and cleaning/sanitizing programs
- BS in Microbiology required
- Minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years microbiology experience at a cosmetic/personal care/OTC company required
- Ability to troubleshoot microbial contaminations
- Will direct priorities for micro QA technician. Will lead plant investigation of micro contaminations. Will be an active team member for cleaning validations and water validation. Will make recommendations to facilities group regarding new equipment and changes to existing equipment.
- Will receive coaching and guidance from QA Director

Role Objective
Designs and manages control systems to assure that cosmetic and topical OTC products will be microbiologically safe and free from unacceptable levels of bacteria, yeast’s and molds and their metabolic by-products.
