      Position Description

      The Complex Care and Recovery Program is currently seeking a full-time, permanent Registered Nurse to work in the Downtown East Flexible Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) team. As a member of an inter-professional team, you will provide client-centred psychiatric and general nursing care and ensure security and safety of the clinical setting. In addition, you will practice in accordance with the CNO standards, CAMH Policies and Practice Model, and the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice. Working within a FACT model, you will be expected to perform assessments, develop, implement and evaluate the inter-professional plan of client care for clients with severe and persistent mental illness. You will liaise with other services in the Complex Mental Illness Program and community agencies to coordinate care for clients. You will be able to work with clients from diverse populations; contribute to program development; provide education support and supervision to students and participate in the research activities of the program. Your skills include the ability to make behavioral observations, mental status and physical assessments, monitor clients’ response to pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical care interventions, documentation and ongoing communication with other team members. You will have sound knowledge of psycho-social rehabilitation, crisis intervention, addiction issues, recovery model, groups, severe and persistent mental illness, and schizophrenia. Your strengths include an ability to perform assessments, develop, implement and evaluate interdisciplinary client centered care plans. This position required rotational evening and weekend work. This position is located at the College Street Site.

      Qualifications

      The successful candidate must be registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and possess a current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate. Preference will be given to candidates who possess or are currently pursuing a BScN and CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. You will have two years of nursing experience. Preferred experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing. Experience within an outpatient setting is an asset. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to enable you to develop the Nurse-Client relationship and work within a collaborative and diverse inter-professional team. Effective leadership, decision-making, organizational and problem solving skills are required. You have demonstrated ability to intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the management of disturbed behaviour. Preference will be given to those with community nursing experience, and a solid understanding of Recovery principles and their application to client service. The ability to work with clients of diverse cultural and social backgrounds is necessary. Computer literacy is required. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.

      Please Note: This full-time, permanent position is part of the ONA Bargaining Unit.

      Salary Range: $37.93 - $54.37 per hour
