      Job summary

      Ruskington Medical Practice has an exciting opportunity for a qualified, motivated Dispenser to join our team. The successful candidate should hold a NVQ Level 2 in Dispensing and portray excellent customer service.

      We would also be open to applications from experienced dispensary assistants looking to work towards achieving NVQ Level 2.

      The contracted hours for the successful candidate will be:

      Monday 0800:1700

      Wednesday 0930:1830

      Thursday 0800:1700

      Friday 0800:1700

      With extra hours required to cover holiday and sickness.

      Hours can be discussed and are flexible.

      Main duties of the job

      Alongside the NVQ Level 2, we are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking individual who portrays a professional, friendly manner to all our patients and to fellow colleagues. They must also demonstrate excellent communications skills, be able to prioritise workload and be able to work well in a team.

      As a qualified Dispenser, the successful candidate will be responsible for dispensing medication in a safe and accurate manner while following the Practice's policies.

      Ruskington Medical Practice is a friendly and caring Practice, which provides a range of services for the 8,000 patients who are registered with us. Of this we dispense to approximately 2500 patients. We strive to ensure every patient receives excellent medical service from all members of staff within the Practice.       Job responsibilities

      The following are the core responsibilities of a Dispenser:

      To be responsible for the safe and accurate dispensing of all medication, ensuring there are no discrepancies.

      Collecting prescription charges in accordance with dispensary protocol.

      Maintaining stock levels within the dispensary, liaising with the Dispensary/ Business Dispensary Manager to facilitate reordering.

      Receiving and storing supplies in accordance with current policy, ensuring the cold chain is maintained where applicable.

      Ensuring controlled drugs are dispensed in accordance with Practice policy.

      Safe disposal of returned and/or out of date medicines.

      Ensuring all repeat prescriptions are processed within a 48-hour timeframe.

      Providing patients with advice regarding all prescription matters.

      Process prescription requests.

      Processing Dossett boxes.

      Maintaining a clean and safe working environment at all times.

      Maintain accurate records at all times.

      There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; as directed by the Dispensary Manager or Practice Manager.

      • Capable of managing payments. Ability to effectively manage stock, including ordering, rotation and disposal.

      Experience

      Essential

      • Experience of working in a dispensary or community pharmacy.
      • Experience working with the general public / patients.

      Desirable

      • Experience of working in primary care. Broad knowledge of General Practice.
      • Working knowledge of SystmOne or similar clinical systems.
