  Summary:

  As the brand is growing so is our team! Egglife Foods is looking for a Quality Manager to join our team, reporting to the Vice President of R&D. This position will be a key member of the staff helping drive teamwork, building teamwork and proper culture. Additionally, the position will be responsible for planning, defining and directing the site quality control, food safety and sanitation programs to ensure compliance with all procedures and policies. The position will also be responsible for ensuring compliance to GMP standards and all company, local, state, and federal policies, procedures, and standards. The Quality Manager will champion the monitoring and maintaining of all plant quality programs by complying with current FDA standards and ensuring all internal procedures and processes are accurate and performing to expectations.

  Essential Functions:

  • Plans, defines and directs the plant Quality, Food Safety, Sanitation programs to ensure compliance to all procedures and policies to ensure compliance to GMP standards, company requirements, regulatory, federal and local laws.
  • Monitors and maintains the plant Quality/Food Safety/Sanitation programs by complying to current FDA standards and ensuring all internal procedures, processes are accurate and performing to expectations.
  • Act as the Food Safety/HACCP coordinator.
  • Annually verifies all HACCP/Food Safety plan or when required due to project changes.
  • Leads the development and compliance of new quality systems/programs across the facility.
  • Manage all internal and external inspections/regulatory visits.
  • Lead audit preparation activities, accompany inspector, complete necessary reports and posting.
  • Perform follow-ups to non-conformances found and provide responses as appropriate, within the time designated.
  • Provide Quality/Food Safety/Sanitation support and resources for commercialization.
  • Train the site on proper inspection procedures and practices and assist in ensuring the facility is inspection ready at all times.
  • Ensure proper documentation and appropriate steps are in place for start up, shutdowns, changeovers.
  • Ensure proper steps are taken with all construction on site.
  • Assist in the identification and delivery of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) through corrective, preventative and continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensure all in process specifications are in place with the appropriate quality testing, testing is occurring, testing results are documented, analyzed for trends and saved.
  • Review and approved minor change requests and work with the plant staff to update all plans.
  • Ensure all Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) requirements and in place and adhered to.
  • Ensure that the plant remains SQF-certified.

  Additional Functions:

  • Familiarize yourself, comply with and ensure departmental personnel always comply with all EggLife Policies.

  • Familiarize self, comply with, and ensure departmental personnel comply with Food Defense, QC, HACCP, SQF, GMP, IDEM, OSHA, and EggLife.
  • Familiarize self, comply with, and ensure Quality personnel comply with all policies such as those listed within the EggLife Employee Handbook.
  • Must treat employees, co-workers and management with respect and courtesy.

  • All other duties as required

  Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in Food Science or equivalent degree preferred
  • Also requires a minimum of 5 years experience in quality and/or food safety leadership role.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in operations/quality/technical (R&D role)
  • Experience in a lean, food manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience with GFSI, SQF, FSSC. HACCP and PCQI certified.
  • He or she will also demonstrate strong leadership, teamwork and communication skills and have the ability to work on a computer (understanding Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Proven experience in leading and developing direct reports.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills and experience/knowledge of statistical processes
