Job Description
- Req#: 2967
- Oversees analytical and microbiological tests and release of raw materials, in process and finished products, bulk and packaged according to established customer procedures and specifications.
- Manages Chemical QA (lab) group and Microbiology Lab group to assure standard good laboratory practice (GLP) are followed and maintained.
- Validates and maintains new analytical methods. Train and certify Lab Technicians and Chemists in test method execution.
- Provides technical assistance to Compounding and Production, including if required for test runs and new product start-ups.
- Maintains records and documents to comply with GMP, FDA, ATF, EPA regulations and requirements.
- Conducts ongoing lab audits to assure compliance.
- Leads all customer lab audits. Serves as Voyant Beauty management representative
- Maintains instrument performance and calibration through established quality control and preventive maintenance procedures.
- Must be able to multi-task numerous job requirements
- Must be able to lead, train and develop all direct reports

General Summary
Manages Chemistry and Microbiology laboratory units engaged in performing chemical and microbiological analyses and tests required for quality control of processes or products and provides occasional support for divisional research and development. Established goals, and schedules and coordinates laboratory administration. Ensures that all activities are in compliance with organization goals and applicable regulations.
Essential Job Functions
Manages lab Chemists, Microbiologists, and Technicians and their performance, i.e., spot check lab data for accuracy, ensuring logbooks and notebooks are kept up to date, and filled out correctly. Provide technical assistance and training as necessary, schedule hours, conduct performance interviews and reviews.
Supports micro laboratory for Test Method Suitability studies.
OTHER KEY TASKS
Participate in project groups as required on the plant and corporate level. .
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
4-year degree in a physical science, preferably a B.S. in Chemistry and/or Biology and a minimum of 5 years experience working in a manufacturing environment following cGMPs.
