- Specialist expert knowledge of Quality Control technical practice and experience to an equivalent to Certificate or Diploma level by working in Quality Control/Assurance activities or from a qualification in Pharmacy Technology Quality Assurance or equivalent
- Knowledge of GMP and legislation relating to MS Licence
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel - to be able to create data gathering processes and then to be able to interpret this information, using statistical techniques where appropriate
- To be able to present information to others using programmes such as Microsoft Powerpoint
- Production experience in a hospital setting with an existing ADU and PPU function
- The post-holder will be required to have a vocational Master's Degree in Pharmacy or a suitable relevant science degree in chemistry, biology, microbiology or biochemistry
- To be registered with the relevant professional body e.g. Royal Pharmaceutical Society or be a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry or Member of the Institute of Biology
- Demonstrate sufficient competence and experience in Quality Control matters gained by significant experience in Quality Control/Assurance activities
- Qualification e.g. diploma in Pharmacy Technology and Quality Assurance
- Good understanding of medical gases (both cylinder and piped management systems); appreciation of the Health Technical Memorandum for medical gases produced by the Department of Health
- Trained to perform testing of medical gases
- Experience of working in a GMP environment
- Experience of working in an NHS Production Unit or Pharmaceutical Industry
- Significant recent typical experience of quality control/assurance
- Strong interpersonal skills, Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to contribute to the strategic and quality assurance direction of the service
- Experience of staff management
- Training experience
- Some flexibility in working hours

Job summary
Sherwood Forest Hospitals have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to gain invaluable experience leading our Quality Control (QC) services. If you have a strong background in Quality Management and are ready to make an impact, this is your chance to lead and ensure the highest standards of quality across our operations.
As the QC Section Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the pharmaceutical quality management system, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and leading a team dedicated to delivering high-quality products. You'll play a key role in investigating deviations, implementing quality improvements, and approving documentation. The role is offered on a 12-month basis due to maternity leave of the current postholder.
The ideal candidate should possess experience in QC facilities, ideally linked to an MHRA Licensed Pharmacy Manufacturing Unit. You should hold a qualification in Pharmacy or a relevant science degree, along with full membership of the relevant professional body.
