      Job Description

      The Quality Engineer will develop timely solutions that minimize overall cost and time to implement while maximizing effectiveness and ensuring product meets specifications. Day to day focus is on working to reduce issues that impact the products and manufacturing to achieve business results. Job is technical in nature. Ability to coach, teach, and audit elements of the GM Quality Manual and GMS BIQ Principle and Elements. Managerial courage to provide direct, honest, and constructive feedback to all peers and plant staff. Present the customer with clear problem definition, technical mentorship on complex problems, and regular updates on progress. Promote safe work practices for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping. Motivates, trains, and develops employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods. Achieve production schedules and product requirements. Coach, teach, counsel, and mentor Group Leaders and team members in these responsibilities.

      The Bedford GPS Plant casts and machines engine blocks, casts transmission cases and EV products, and casts and trims structural components for the Corvette.

      • Drive problem solving and lead resolution to supplier, internal, and customer driven quality issues
      • Interact with operations and engineering on part measurement results to part print specifications to assure quality and reliability
      • Ensure effective containment and resolution to identified non-conforming product
      • Communicate emerging issues
      • Build customer relation
      • Coordinate repair, rework, and containment activities for identified quality concerns
      • Must be willing to work weekends/ overtime when needed

          Additional Job Description

          What makes you an ideal fit:

          • Previous experience as a Quality Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineer, Process Engineer, Design Engineer and/or Reliability Engineer
          • Proficiency and Knowledge of the elements of the GM Quality System / GMS BIQ / Global Quality Manual
          • Good problem solver, Red X experience, OpEx experience
          • Independent judgement in managing complex and ambiguous tasks with minimal input from supervisor
          • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead diverse/cross-functional teams.
          • Effective communicator with solid oral and written presentation skills
          • High energy personality with an internal drive to take action quickly in our fast-paced environment
          • Analyze and understand data sets of a technical nature
          • GD&T Experience
          • Ability to supervise, coach, and teach hourly and salary team members
          • Machining, body shop, production experience

          Qualifications:

          • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
          • Well-developed oral and written communication skills
          • Knowledge of, and ability to effectively use computer software as it pertains to quality engineering
          • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
