Quality Engineers are core delivery team members responsible for the validation of functional and nonfunctional requirements implemented by a team. They are responsible for decomposing the functional and technical requirements created by Product Owners and Systems Analysts into test scripts. Quality Engineers raise defects as issues are identified and support the remediation process with teams.

Costco Travel is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our Offerings and Engagement team. This role will be responsible for leading projects related to testing tools, infrastructure, and test frameworks in a diverse quality organization. The ideal candidate will be an experienced quality professional with leadership skills, who can direct and guide our testing efforts with an eye toward continual improvement and increased product quality for our members.

ROLE

● Defines the testing strategy and approach to validate new or enhanced functionality implemented by teams.

● Collaborates with team members to decompose functional and nonfunctional requirements into test scripts and scenarios.

● Determines test dependencies including QA test environment, QA tools, training, build and deployment plans, intra-team dependencies, and communication processes.

● Creates and executes manual and automated test scripts to validate the acceptance criteria defined within the epics and user stories implemented by team members.

● Develops manual test cases for all functional and non-functional requirements and collaborates with development team members to identify candidates for test case automation.

● Identifies risks impacting the timely delivery of a given product and collaborates with team members to prepare mitigation strategies.

● Executes smoke, functional, integration, and non-functional test scripts as part of the product/application delivery lifecycle.

● Collaborates with team members to investigate the root cause of failed manual or automated test scripts.

● Creates defects with detailed information pertaining to the failed test case/scenario with supporting documentation (screenshots, environment details, log files, etc.).

● Collaborates with team members to identify existing manual and automated test scripts that will be impacted through the development of new features and capabilities.

● Shares feedback with the team members pertaining to the quality of sprint deliverables during retrospectives.

● Manages the remediation of defects raised throughout the development lifecycle and creates supporting quality reports that are shared with stakeholders.

● Collaborates with product team members (e.g., Product Owners, System Analysts) to define the automating testing approach / strategy for a given product / application.

● Develops testing protocols and standards to improve end-to-end testing outcomes and shares and adopts best practices with the center of excellence (CoE) and other Quality Engineers.

● Creates test data to support the execution of functional and nonfunctional testing activities.

● Develops and executes automated test scripts to accelerate team velocity through the reduction of manual testing efforts.

● Maintains the automated testing suite and accompanying framework for a given product.

● Collaborates with team members (e.g., DevOps Engineers, Systems Architects) to incorporate new automated test scripts into the continuous integration pipeline.

● Shares test automation practices with engineers to promote “shift left” testing disciplines and practices (incorporate testing earlier in development) within a team.

● Assists in the definition of testing strategies and approaches for complex technical implementations.

● Designs and leads implementation of testing frameworks/tools and processes for continuous improvement.

● Stays up to date with tools, trends and technologies.

● Directs, manages, and removes roadblocks for a team of quality professionals.

● Manages and prioritizes automation and team backlog effectively with QA leadership team.

● Partners with peers in IT to build CICD tools and processes as well as meet deadlines and satisfy requirements.

● Drives adoption of standards and best practices for software automation and test development.

● Takes an active role in interviewing, onboarding as well as improving interview processes.

● Discovers problems, analyzes, and mitigates quality risks.

● Measures and reports organization performance against a comprehensive set of quality goals and metrics.

REQUIRED

● 6+ years’ QA experience in a technology delivery organization.

● 4+ years’ current experience with web/Internet technologies.

● 4+ years’ experience in mobile automation experience with Java, Appium and Sauce.

● 2+ years’ proven experience leading testing teams.

● 2+ years’ proven experience managing test framework projects.

● 2+ years’ current experience with Web UI automation tool Selenium Web Driver.

Recommended:

● BS in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience.

● Knowledge and experience with best of class testing technologies and practices.

● Experience leading in a Scrum Agile environment and appreciation for DevOps.

● Ability to work within a collaborative team environment.

● Understanding of automation principles, how it works, abilities, and limitations, as well as types of changes that may impact it.

● Understanding of security and performance testing practices and ability to support implementation.

● Experience working with Maven, Git, Splunk, SoapUI, Jenkins.

● Knowledge of Microsoft SQL and/or Transact-SQL.

● Design and development experience in Java or C#.

● Familiarity with service-oriented architectures (SOO).

● Familiarity with web services technologies and tools such as: REST, HTTP, and SoapUI.

● Knowledge/Experience with Docker, K8s is a plus.

● Tomcat/Apache knowledge.

● Travel industry knowledge.

Pay Range: $120,000 - $155,000
