      Quality Improvement Analyst (Accreditation)

      ASTRO, the American Society for Radiation Oncology, is looking for a project-oriented individual with a minimum of 2-4 years’ experience who loves to problem solve, streamline processes and always strives for excellence. Previous experience or interest in accreditation a plus.


      The Quality Improvement Analyst supports the day-to-day functions of ASTRO’s quality programs with an emphasis on the Accreditation Program for Excellence (APEx). General responsibilities include supporting facilities throughout the accreditation process and assessing program metrics; developing supportive tools, resources and templates for facilities seeking accreditation; and participating in quality improvement initiatives with ASTRO staff to enhance other quality efforts offered by ASTRO.


      NOTE: ASTRO offers a hybrid work environment. The position is based in Arlington, VA at ASTRO’s headquarters and eligible for immediate telework up to 3x/week after an initial training period.


      Major responsibilities will include:

      1. Provides customer service for APEx facility staff, surveyors and ASTRO volunteers regarding accreditation requirements.
      2. Maintains records of program statistics, accreditation cycles and payment details.
      3. Conducts review of application materials, eligibility, self-assessment and surveyor materials to ensure completeness and compliance with the accreditation criteria. Communicates with facilities on the necessary updates and changes to submissions.
      4. Liaises with administrative and finance staff to facilitate the financial needs for APEx facilities and surveyors.
      5. Assists facilities with interpreting APEx processes and accreditation standards.
      6. Assists with coordination and preparations of the Practice Accreditation Subcommittee, including content and materials for all meetings, and any APEx related projects.
      7. Updates internal and external APEx resources, including educational materials.
      8. Responsible for website updates and liaises with social media specialist for accreditation announcements. Liaises with Communications/Marketing staff to promote mutual goals.
      9. Liaises with regional AAPM chapter leadership to schedule APEx presentations.
      10. Prepares and conducts biannual outreach quality-related campaigns directed at facilities participating in ASTRO quality programs.
      11. Works cooperatively with staff involved in related activities, including government relations, quality improvement, marketing and membership, and education and meetings to bring appropriate expertise perspective to these activities.
      12. Coordinates the preparation of reports for internal and external stakeholders.

      Qualified Candidates will have:

      Education/Experience

      • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience and minimum of 2 - 4 years’ experience in a similar role, an advanced degree may be substituted for some work experience.
      • Previous accreditation experience preferred, though not essential.
      • Previous experience working in an association management organization or nonprofit organization a plus.

      • Excellent proofing and grammar skills, communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
      • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills, critical thinking and the ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of staff and members.
      • Attention to detail - ability to work with large volumes of data with a high degree of accuracy.
      • Requires significant problem solving, judgment and/or research to carry out complex procedures and/or recommend courses of action where no precedents or polices exist.
      • Experience with Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.

      Working Conditions

      General office. Travel required less than 5% of the time – Annual Meeting only (as needed).
