- Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the Batch Audit and Disposition Quality System.
- Audit all batch records to assure that the batch files comply with all policies, procedures and regulations effecting the product.
- Store and maintain all batch files to comply with Corporate and Division policies in a State of audit readiness.
- Assure appropriate testing and release criteria have been met for validation and commercial batches. Communicate with Design Assurance, Research and Development and Third Party Manufacturing sites for documentation related to Batch Disposition.
- Issue Finished Product shipping releases in a timely manner for all conforming material goods.
- Report status of materials not meeting normal release times (Hold List).
- Audit and maintain cleaning and facility related documentation.
- Perform and verify Batch Quality Holds.
- Utilize inventory control systems (CAMBAR, AMAPS) for Batch Disposition.
- Conduct failure investigations, determine and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Participate and lead as necessary Risk Assessments, such as FMEA.
- Support all internal and external audits, including but not limited to FDA, SQF.
- Conduct annual performance reviews with all direct reports.
- Manage performance development plans for all employees in QS.
- Assure all required training is provided and completed by all dept. employees.
- Promote and support team development activities.
- You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.
- Bachelors Degree Technical Area Preferred or equivalent experience.
- Relevant experience in Quality Assurance and /or Manufacturing.
- The incumbent must have some technical knowledge in the areas of processing, filling, statistics, aseptics, chemistry, microbiology, computers, and written communication skills.
- Masters Degree or Ph.D. Preferred.
- A good working knowledge of Low Acid Food Regulations, Infant Formula Regulations, Corporate Policies, Divisional Policies and Guidelines, Plant procedures and other governmental (local or federal) regulations affecting the manufacturing and distribution of the products at the plant is required for success in this position.

The Opportunity
This Batch Records Supervisor position works out of our Altavista, VA location in the Abbott Nutrition Division. The primary responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Batch Records Supervisor are multifunctional and include management of the plant GMP Batch Record Audit and Batch Disposition. The Quality Assurance Batch Records Supervisor leads a team that audits and assures accuracy of batch records in compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, and assures compliance to Federal Regulations pertaining to Low Acid Foods, Infant Formula Act, Acidified Foods, Bottled Water Regulations, Nutritional Labeling Laws, and Good Manufacturing Practices.
