      The Quality Technician III will be responsible for completing inspection and testing tasks in all the production, quality, and testing areas of the Spartanburg Plant. These inspections and tests may take place on supplier parts or Oshkosh assembled parts, sub-assemblies, or completed vehicles. The quality technician will be responsible for utilizing the plants’ Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to record inspection and test findings. Inspections and tests will be carried out in accordance with the approved work instructions, checklists, and control plans. The Quality Technician may also participate in plant level start-up/daily review meetings and report out on inspection and test findings.

      Essential Duties:

      These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned. Technicians may be assigned to a specific area (paint, end of line etc.) so some of these responsibilities may not apply to all quality technicians.

      • Utilize inspection work instructions, checklists, and control plans to complete inspections and tests on “in-process” vehicles and sub-assemblies
      • Complete inspections, sorting and minor rework on purchased components when parts are required to support production requirements
      • Utilize the MES system and other systems to record inspection and test findings
      • Interface with production operators to understand any challenging assembly process that may require additional inspection
      • Participate in plant start-up and daily review meetings and provide details on inspection and test findings
      • Complete testing and drive evaluation on completed vehicles
      • Create summary reports of inspection and test findings
      • Participate in continuous improvement, root cause, 8D team meetings
      • Utilize CMM to measure incoming parts and in-process vehicles (training will be provided)
      • Utilize torque monitoring equipment to verify DC torque tools
      • Utilize hand tools (calipers, micrometers, go/no go gages, etc.) to verify components
      • Inspect sheet metal surface quality
      • Inspect paint quality
      • Contain suspect vehicles and perform inspections and tests, as needed
      • Perform testing and troubleshooting on EV battery systems
      • Assist production with commissioning tasks on EV’s (electrical vehicles)
      • Lead team in various functions, as necessary
      • Other duties, as assigned
