Job Description

- Identifying, analyzing, and resolving non-conformances.
- Investigating problems on purchased finished, rough, and interplant materials.
- Interacting with cross functional team members to determine root cause of quality issues and ensuring corrective action is put in place
- Working knowledge in usage of modern CMM tooling (FARO Laser Tracker, Leica Absolute Tracker, Creaform 3D Scanner, etc.)
- Measures components and weldments using modern CMM measurement tools (FARO Laser Tracker, Leica Absolute Tracker, Creaform 3D Scanner).
- Populates detailed inspection reports using PCDMIS, Polyworks, Inspire, and other applicable quality software.
- Utilizes working knowledge of GD&T and cross references with established engineering print datums to ensure accurate coordinate systems.
- Gathers available information (VisMockup/TeamCenter) on fabrication weldments to ensure precise measurements are taken allowing for fixture modifications.
- Desires to continue learning through virtual and in person trainings to become the subject matter expert for factory inspections.
- Adjusts to changes in inspection schedules based on production demand in factory. Daily updates and production report out/pass down for off shift.
- Adapts to input from relevant value streams (Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, etc.) to ensure consistent inspection outputs.
- Identifies alternative approaches to encountered problems and proposes solutions to continue moving forward.
- Understands and applies Caterpillar standards regarding tool auditing, execution of Quality Gates, and reporting procedures.
- Downloads component prints (PRWB/EPIX), Standard Work (MS Teams), production routings (SAP), and associated industry specifications (ASTM, ASME, 1E) for all associated Quality tasks.
- Determines true root cause of identified repeat failures (inspection, fabrication, assembly, packaging) and proposes novel solutions based on process knowledge.
- Investigates historical failure modes (SAP, All Quality Events) and takes proactive action to suggest inspection methods for Incoming Quality Audit.
- Practices RCA as an iterative process.

Job Summary:
This role will report to the Quality team and will work with a cross functional team to develop inspection methods and frequency for critical parts and fixtures. Performs advanced inspections on fabricated and purchased finished parts and reports on materials and products ensuring conformance to company quality standards. Summary Pay Range:
$79,800.00 - $119,760.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
