Install, level, set up, prepare and operate any Solar or OEM gas turbine, diesel engine, gas compressor, driven equipment, packaged system, control console, microprocessor control, subassembly, component and/or accessory in test cells, fixtures or in special test beds. Connect test equipment: harnesses, simulators, filters, lines, dynamometers, slave generators, instrumentation and other equipment necessary to the test operation.
Conduct green run and final performance acceptance test of gas turbines and gas compressors; perform production and first article tests to measure characteristics of packaged systems, controls, subassemblies and components while working from Solar, customer and vendor drawings, specifications, operational procedures and oral instructions. Connect and operate computerized data acquisition systems for package system, gas turbine and gas compressor performance testing.
Observe, record and review test data. Calculate operational parameters such as horsepower, pressure ratio, fuel flow, specific fuel consumption, oil flow, oil consumption, electrical functions, power factors and other parameters related to the acceptability of the unit under test. Conduct vibration surveys and trim balance components, as required, utilizing real time vibration analyzers, trim balance analyzers, vibration tape recorders and plotters.
Perform special operational test and retest to determine the acceptability of machinery tested and approve acceptable products. Troubleshoot to isolate indicated malfunctions and discrepancies.
Remove and replace parts of gas turbines, diesel engines, gas compressors and/or packaged systems, including microprocessor controls and accessory components as directed to correct malfunctions. Make operational adjustments to engines, accessories, controls and test equipment, including realignment.
Perform necessary rework to correct the cause of malfunctions and bring performance within specified operating parameters. Remove unit from test facility.
Prepare accurate documentation of test results, adjustments made and rework performed. Recommend corrective action to alleviate repetitive malfunctions and/or changes to improve test procedures.
Perform rework of the level of difficulty described herein. Devise and construct test equipment, harnesses and fixtures for testing electrical/electronic components and assemblies. Perform on-site maintenance on test equipment as directed. Be responsible for the proper use and storage of maintenance, repair and calibration of equipment as required. Perform the duties of Electrical/Electronic Assembler as required. Exercise tact and good judgment , when interfacing with customers, vendors and/or visitors.
Experience with shop equipment, bench tools, hand tools, inspection and test equipment
3 years of mechanical or electrical-related job experience
Willing to work any shift (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
Experience with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
3-5 years of mechanical experience on Turbine equipment, installation, repair, and maintenance.
LOU #27 as a QTT
1 to 2 years experience using ATL/MRCA (Active Test Log / Material Review )

Summary Pay Range:
$25.00 - $41.98Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
