Job Description

- Build, deploy and maintain high availability, next-generation network and network
- security compartments and operations within this environment
- Deploy, maintain and manage network switching infrastructure (routers, aggregation
- switches, end-user switches)
- Deploy, maintain and manage Next Generation security platforms (Firewall/IPS) and
- network security compartments
- Participate in the design and implementation of a scalable, reliable, and secure network
- security infrastructure environment
- Monitor, troubleshoot, mitigate and resolve network infrastructure problems and service
- interruptions
- Conduct security audits and risk assessments to identify/mitigate/remedy vulnerabilities
- in the network security infrastructure. Work with internal and external auditors to provide
- necessary audit evidence and documentation
- Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory information for the network and
- security equipment and associated support contracts.
- Create and maintain network and security technical administration documentation,
- (procedures, diagrams) as well as associated IT support and troubleshooting
- documentation
- Collaborate with internal/external IBM partners, and hardware/telecom vendors to source
- services/equipment, troubleshoot problems, open support tickets as needed
- Assure optimized and robust daily network operations for network infrastructure
- (switches, routers, firewalls, WAN/Internet connections, VPN, Cloud network
- connections and operations)
- On all systems, maintain, apply, and assure a strong security posture, currency levels and
- compliance according to IBM Security standards and requirements
- Apply engineering and operations excellence to deployments, including proof-of-
- concept and next-generation network and network security installations while adhering to
- industry best practices
- Automate processes and workflows to increase the operational agility of the network
- engineering operations
- Analyze data from tools to determine areas of improvement, determine and implement
- the necessary changes
- Iteratively optimize, improve & enhance existing systems and infrastructure, including
- implementation of new features and functions
- Collect data, then supply it to engineering peer teams for analysis and data-driven
- recommendations and decision making
- Collaborate and maintain strong working relationships with IBM partners, stakeholders,
- vendors, IBM Cloud and Research Emerging Technology
- Master and utilize various IBM and vendor network utilities
- IP address and subnet management
- Create and provide recurring network reports based on network statistics and analytics
- Network Change, Configuration and Performance Management.
- Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, PCNSA
- Project management skills
- Experience with network security monitoring/performance management systems is highly desirable (for example: Xymon, Centreon, Datadog, IBM Sevone)
- Low-level (packet-level) network and application protocol analysis and troubleshooting experience
- Experience with network automation; knowledge of RestAPI, Ansible, Python a definite plus
- Experience with Unix/Linux administration and with scripting/coding

existing skills while developing the new skills necessary to design, build, deploy and maintain
high availability network and next-generation network security operations. The perfect candidate
will bring with them the growth mindset needed to learn and develop excellence in the
engineering and management of multi-vendor, heterogeneous Cisco, Palo Alto and Infoblox
TCP/IP-based networking environments. You will learn to master the design and deployment of
next-generation networking technology systems/services and build solid, demonstrable skills in
and understanding of Cisco and Palo Alto TCP/IP-based network ecosystems.
The ideal candidate should be a self-starter, organized, with a good understanding of the business
requirements and should be able to demonstrate both technical capabilities and in-depth
knowledge of various security and network concepts, technologies and best practices.
In addition to technical expertise, the candidate should have excellent communication skills, as
he will be working closely with internal teams and stakeholders to understand issues, business
needs, gather requirements and develop proper plans and courses of action to build up this
dynamic environment.
