      Position Summary

At Nestlé Product Technology Center, in Orbe, we develop new products, processes and packaging concepts in the areas of Infant Cereal and Healthy Snacks for Nestlé worldwide. In addition, we also provide technical assistance to our factories around the world.

As a Nutrition S&T Master trainee, you will have the opportunity to explore physical food safety risks associated with our snacks and infant cereals. This experience is crucial for determining the appropriate age positioning of our products in relation to babies’ oral motor skills development. You will collaborate with the S&T and Quality teams to evaluate existing methods for measuring food safety risks (such as choking, gagging, and laceration) and gain hands-on experience in developing new methodologies. This role will enhance your understanding of the learning-to-eat journey for infants.

A Day in the Life of a R&D Master Trainee

      • Assist in analyzing various publications related to the baby's eating journey and learn to develop new methods based on findings.
      • Support efforts to improve our processes for evaluating physical food safety.
      • Help with the automation of data collection and interpretation under the guidance of team members.
      • Contribute to synthesizing scientific writing into internal communications to support project initiatives.
      • Participate in cross-functional team activities to gain insights into aligning innovation and renovation projects with infant nutrition standards and regulations.

      What will make you successful

      • Freshly graduated or currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Food Science, Quality, Food Safety, or a related field
      • Strong communication skills and stakeholder management abilities, with proficiency in scientific writing to convey complex information clearly.
      • Proactive, adaptable, and independent, demonstrating a self-motivated approach while being an excellent team player in a multi-functional environment.
      • Familiarity with data analysis tools, including Excel (for creating interactive worksheets), Power BI, and Power Apps.
      • Fluent in English; proficiency in French is a plus.
