Job Description

- Carry out design, prototyping and analysis activities as part of the development of new diamond tools
- Characterize, analyze and develop metallic and composite products manufactured by powder metallurgy
- Perform studies on the properties and characteristics of materials
- Participate in tests with technicians on mining exploration drilling sites for technical validation
- Participate in identifying, developing and supervising research and development partnerships
- Perform patent and technology watch, to identify new scientific directions and development opportunities
- Participate in meetings bringing together site technicians to improve development project’s portfolio and on Fordia's products
- Provide technical training on drilling and on the products used
- Participate in the process of applying for credits and grants
- Support production department and subcontractors in problems solving during product manufacturing
- Support the quality department in the analysis of non-conformities
- Assist the purchasing department in the qualification of critical suppliers
- Holds an university degree in materials or metallurgical engineering (mandatory)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in diamond tool design
- English spoken and written
- French spoken and written (an asset)
- Valid passport
- Willing to relocate in Montreal, Canada
- Business trips (4-6 weeks/year)
- Diamond tool expertise
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of product development and powder metallurgy processes
- Knowledge of additive manufacturing (an asset)
- Strong project management skills
- Sharp sense of customer service
- Has an established network of contacts in metallurgy and/or in the industry (an asset)
