We are seeking an engineering student to join our R&D Packaging team for a Research & Development internship during Summer, 2024.

This position will be located at our CONMED headquarters in Largo, FL. You will get the chance to have hands-on experience with R&D, manufacturing, and the R&D test lab.

As an R&D Intern, you will learn alongside seasoned professionals through hands-on application of engineering principles and methodologies. Your efforts in problem solving, creative thinking and cross-functional collaboration will directly contribute to the team’s R&D projects and initiatives.

The Intern’s responsibilities will include:

• Develop packaging specifications and associated engineering documents
• Develop packaging testing methods, perform, or direct test method validations and train others to use these methods as required
• Perform validation of new or modified packaging designs to appropriate and current regulatory standards
• Work directly with outside suppliers to develop optimal package designs and/or components
• Coordinate and communicate packaging technology and designs with project teams and management staff as part of project management and design control activities
• Identify, review, and evaluate new packaging technology for application to current and future product designs
• Assist in inventing / creating concepts and designs/approaches for new packaging for products
• The opportunity to work hands-on in an R&D test lab with packaging test equipment
• Collaborate with engineers to support all other project related activities

Position Requirements:

• Pursuing a Bachelor of Science or graduate degree in Engineering (Packaging Biomedical, Mechanical, Chemical, or other)
• Must be available to work onsite out of the Largo, FL facility (11311 Concept Blvd, Bldg 4, Largo, FL 33773) throughout the summer internship program, May 20, 2024 – July 26, 2024
• Position is 40 hours/week, M-F

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong technical writing, presentation, and communication skills

• Experience working in a regulated industry is a plus
• Experience working with packaging medical device design, development or manufacturing is a plus

Disclosure as required by applicable law, the hourly pay rate range for this position is $19.00 to $31.00. The actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level. The hourly pay rate range is CONMED’s good faith belief at the time of this posting.
