- Studying the shelf life of various food items and ingredients
- Reading food-related magazines and industry reports to learn about current trends
- Taste and analyze similar products sold on the market
- Taking measurements of ingredients being used
- Prepare a variety of baked goods for taste testing.
- Using the opinions of taste-testers to adjust recipes for a new taste group
- Taking detailed notes during the food product creation process
- Meeting with accounting and marketing teams to examine a food product's potential profitability
- Meeting with marketing team to determine a food product's market appeal
- Prepare for and attend periodic internal meetings.
- Proficiency in oral and/or written Chinese/Mandarin is required.
- 5+ years of experience in baking or pastry-making related positions.
- 2+ years of experience in cake or pastry product development
- Culinary degree preferred, but not required.
- Strong project management, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills required for employee relations and internal meetings.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to work with tight deadlines and meet new and changing demands.
- Exceptional attendance and availability to work overtime when needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of all work-related information and materials

We are looking to hire a Research & Development Pastry Chef at our Brea Production Kitchen. As a R&D Pastry Chef, you will work with a team of passionate chefs to create recipes, bake samples for testing, improve current products and give input to taste, texture, and packaging of food products.

This position requires moderate physical activity.
