- Manage, prioritize, and direct pilot plant activities to support innovation projects.
- Ensure R&T Pilot facilities are well maintained, and all materials are ready for trials. Ensure all trial work is done in accordance with safety requirements.
- Supervise the pilot plant technicians.
- Develop and enact a preventative maintenance program for the pilot assets and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
- Execute capital improvements to R&T facilities.
- Ensure documentation for trials, equipment, and procedures is well maintained and accessible.
- As needed, assist with R&T research projects. This may include trial coverage both in the pilot facilities and at plant scale.
- Support process development, process optimization, and product application development for new PAN precursor fibers.
- BS degree in Chemical Engineer, Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with at least 5 years of experience with industrial polymer processes and equipment. Direct experience with PAN, fiber spinning, industrial polymerization units, and/or carbon fiber is preferred.
- Ability to work productively in a cross-functional team environment. Experience working with, or in, R&D is preferred.
- Willingness to work with machinery to guide upgrades, troubleshoot, maintenance, and calibration
- Understanding of safety procedures and protocols required to run industrial scale equipment in PSM areas
- Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate up and down the organization. Ability to resolve conflicts, looking for optimal outcomes.
- Experience leading or coaching a team is desired.
