      M Health Fairview is looking for a casual (0.01 FTE) Radiation Therapist at our St. John's Hospital location in Maplewood, MN. The Radiation Therapist is responsible for the accurate delivery of radiation treatment as directed by the Radiation Oncologist. This includes detailed patient positioning and accurate radiation delivery. The casual radiation therapist helps pick up shifts: 3 shifts per month requirement so you're in charge of your own schedule!

      Responsibilities

      Job Responsibilities:

      Deliver phenomenal patient care by verifying right patient, right time, right procedure

      Delivers detailed and efficient ionizing radiation treatment to the patient as prescribed by the radiation oncologist and established practices and policies of the department.

      Schedules and maintains patients for treatment courses and advise appropriate individuals, including if need be other departments

      Provides physical support while patients are under the supervision of the radiation therapist

      Observes and reassures patients during treatment and report unusual reactions to physician

      Records all treatment deliveries in patient’s electronic medical record. Maintains patient treatment record and quality checklist

      Takes all vital photos of the patient for the permanent treatment record

      Reports and files a report of any treatment errors to the physics department and radiation oncologist

      Acts as liaison within the department to accurate communication

      Follows principles of ALARA at all times within the radiation therapy department

      Notifies patients of delay in treatment due to machine malfunction

      Performs weekly chart checks, audits billing charges and export of charges

      Follows established procedures to operate linear accelerator and accessories, block fabrication, related EMR’s.

      Follows and maintains knowledge of all relevant laws, regulation, policies, procedures and standards.

      Fosters a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking.


      Qualifications

      Required

      • Associates Degree for radiation therapy

      Experience

      • Successful radiation therapy school completion

      License/Certification/Registration

      • BLS certification
      • ARRT registration in radiation therapy or be registry-eligible by completing the appropriate school of radiation therapy through an accredited program. Candidate will need to pass board exam within three months of hire date. Continuing education in radiation therapy field and must continue to hold ARRT registry

      Preferred

      • Bachelor’s degree for radiation therapy

      Experience

      • 1 year
      • ARRT registered
      • BLS certification
