With offices across North Carolina, our Triangle region is seeking a Radiology Student to join our team at the Duraleigh Office. The Radiology Student is responsible for the critique and performance of quality diagnostic imaging under the supervision of a registered technologist. The assistant will promptly and safely transport patients to and from the Radiology Department according to established policies and procedures and assists other staff members upon request.

      Qualifications and Experience

      • High school diploma required
      • Actively enrolled in an Accredited Radiologic Technologist training program
      • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform procedures including body mechanics and patient movement
      • Knowledge of safety hazards and contraindications for patients and all visitors within the facility
      • Comfortable using email and interacting with Internet applications
      • Knowledge of practice management and word processing software
      • Current CPR certification
      • Good communication skills, written and verbal

      Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following

      • Prep patient for diagnostic exam and read notes as to why the exam is being performed
      • Greets patients and escorts them from the waiting room and/or exam room
      • Explain in detail the procedure to the patient
      • Prepares patients for study by dressing patients according to protocols
      • Ensures all studies scheduled have correct orders
      • Produce diagnostic X-ray films or parts of the human body for use in diagnosing medical problems
      • Practice ALARA by ensuring proper patient positioning and using shielding devices, if applicable
      • Utilize imaging software to transmit images
      • Adjust controls on the x-ray machine to produce diagnostic radiographs with proper use of angles, positional aides, and exposure techniques with the proper density and contrast of the desired body part
      • Takes stock inventory and restocks supplies in the Radiology Department

      Other Responsibilities

      • Maintain x-ray equipment by monitoring possible malfunctions and ensuring the safety of the DR panels.
      • Participates in professional development activities
      • Maintains a pleasant, cooperative, and communicative demeanor while performing all duties with
      • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, patients, and providers
      • Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA privacy and confidentiality guidelines established by the practice and OSHA mandates.
      • Maintains compliance with Infection Control guidelines
      • Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job functions
      • Maintains compliance with practice and policies and procedures
      • Performs other duties as required and assigned by Manager, including schedule changes and travel to office locations as assigned
