      SALARY

      $25.675 - $40.781

      POSITION SUMMARY

      Posts pay, distribution hours, and prepares and processes payroll for department employees to payroll time reports. Gathers and completes other payroll related documents and tasks. Manages files, processes data, answers phones, and provides general administrative support.

      PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Collects time sheets/swipe log daily from designated areas.
      • Prepares necessary payroll documents for employees including but not limited to 8830 (employees off Sick/IN), Funeral Pay, and Jury Pay.
      • Posts pay and distribution of hours in Oracle Time Capture.
      • Maintains employees’ personal holidays, vacation time and other attendance information.
      • Refers to union contracts when questions arise pertaining to payroll issues.
      • Operates a personal computer using standard spreadsheet and work processing software to prepare reports and maintain, file and retrieve data.
      • Maintains various records pertaining to department personnel and prepares reports including, but not limited to lost time reports and overtime reports.
      • Completes Seven Day sick pay claim reports.
      • Contacts foreperson and other management personnel to clarify questionable data regarding payroll.
      • Investigates reported pay discrepancies and arranges for necessary adjustments of records and payments.
      • Gathers data for various departments when investigations are conducted for the Law Department and Labor Relations.
      • Receives, sorts, and distributes checks.
      • Answers the telephone and provides information to employees regarding payroll-related matters.
      • Performs other clerical tasks, including typing, filing, and photocopying.
      • Performs the duties of other payroll employees when necessary.
      • May assist with station system, vacation and personal holiday picks.
      • May dispatch the daily assignments.
      • Performs related duties as assigned.

      EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

      • Required to accurately type at a minimum rate of 25 words per minute.

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

      • Requires remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time and constantly operating a computer and other office productivity machinery.

      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

      • Working knowledge of timekeeping and reporting procedures and practices.
      • Working knowledge in the wage and working condition agreements and provisions of union shop personnel.
      • Working knowledge and skills necessary to competently operate personal computer systems to develop and maintain business applications using standard software, such as Excel and various Windows-based applications.
      • Working knowledge of basic mathematics, including fractions and decimals.
      • Ability to have discretion necessary for dealing with confidential information.
      • Ability to operate an electronic calculator.
      • Ability to write legibly.
      • Ability to speak and express oneself in a clear, concise and comprehensive manner.
      • Ability to be accurate in calculating, posting, and checking data.
      • Ability to maintain amiable relations with Authority personnel and outside contacts.
